God Bless, Bob. I was honored to see you on Flag Day, 1973 at the Capitol. I was just an 8 year old boy, but I was in the balcony watching you being honored by Congress.
Thank you for all you've done for this great nation.

Our loss is heaven's gain. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Hope. God bless you and may your family be comforted in knowing that you were loved by many people.

The more I have read and heard on Bob Hope since he passed away I think the word legend is truly inadequate to describe him. Johnny Carson in a statement said he was greatest entertainer of our time. Even that may be an understatement. Nancy Reagan said he was like one of the family. I well remember Bob Hope campaigning and cracking jokes for Reagan to be elected President. It's a shame Ronald Reagan in his prime couldn't deliver the eulogy.

Thanks for the memories, Bob.

Isn't it actually "thanks for the memory," singular?

It was brought out last night on "Larry King Live" that though Hope and Crosby worked well together, they were not socially close. It was said that Bob was shocked and most saddened that the Crosby family did not invite him to Bing's 1977 funeral.

Very probable, since Bob did only one show at Kadena Air Base for the entire island. In a time when we were ashamed to wear the uniform in public, Bob Hope put his life on the line for the boys in fatigues. I'll always treasure the man. I asked my brother in law today, and he said that he was at that show. He said that he started out directing traffic, and ended up guarding the stand that the cue cards were being held up on. He seemed to remember it as if it were yesterday--he was obviously close to the stage and saw the whole show from there.

I will never forget what he did for my moral and that of all of our troops in every war of my lifetime.
