Shopping center? Don't coup attempts happen at Presidential Palaces or radio stations? Guess times are changing.

The message was :
- Arroyo's governemtn finances the Muslim separatists and stages deadly bomb attacks
- with the goal of increasing US involvment in the country
Strange that these people were ready to die for such a strange construction ...

Who knows? Maybe they were just bored and decided to go for a Sunday afternoon stroll and coup attempt. This sort of things from various groups of "mutinious Philippine soldiers" have been going on with some regularity for the last 50 years.

I just arrived in the Phlippines on Sunday morning for my Peace Corps assignment about two hours before the stand off began. Thankfully it was resolved peacefully.
