Something is wrong with their system when people are making threats like this in major publications. I can't picture that happening in this country.

Get a gun and go to jail. Don't get a gun, and die. Bummer

Yeah. If nothing else the British government should realize that if Mr. Martin goes, there goes a taxpayer. Heaven know, the liquor tax is the only tax those other characters paid.

while Prince Charlie of Rifkin -soon to be king

Frankly, I would be surprised if Charles ever does become king. His grandmother lived into her 100s, and his mother 70+ shows no signs of stopping. The way this is going, if he does become king chances are he will be in his 70s. IMHO, the crown will go to his son William who will be in his late 30's or 40's.

Not that it makes any difference. Being "King of England" today is worth about as much as a bowl of day old oatmeal.

Another cousin of Barras, who gave his name as Georgi, said the travelling community had recently put a £60,000 bounty on Martin's head................

Hmmmmmm.... First I've heard that these criminal scum are Gypsies. That the thief shot dead is a gypsy. Now it makes a lot more sense.

Ishmael Steele, Barras's cousin ...

Could be. It would explain the bloodlust.

You need to read "King of the Gypsies". It is set in the U.S. but the vendetta is a major part of their heritage.
Just as an aside: The word Gypsie or Gypsy or other variants comes from the ancient association with Egypt. They also called themselves Romany, which was the name of a tribe of people in the Balkans. Apparently there was no actual connection. Vlad the Impaler murdered thousands of Bulgars, Magyars, and Gypsies. during WWII the Nazis murdered 6 million Jews, 1 million catholics, 3 million Poles, 300,000 "defectives", and 800,000 gypsies. The Travellers are the remnants of the gypsies from europe.
A lot of gypsies in europe had/have arab/muslim sounding names. Their religious convictions are pretty nebulous but center around some sort of pantheism, as I recall.

All the different groups that travel from one place to another are called Travelers whether they are Roma or not.

The Roma descend from one or more groups that came from India circa 1300/1400.

The Irish Travelers may well have no blood affinity with the Roma.

The Roma, and other Travelers, are frequently visited with quite vicious, and even deadly, persecution by Europeans.

Dr. Joseph Mengele kept at his side a young Gypsy boy throughout the war. This kid got everything you could wish, and he always wore a really nice white suit. It was kept spotless.

One day Joseph heard the allies were near, so they started driving all the Jews and other Gypsies to the gas chambers and ovens as fast as they could.

Everyone in the camps wanted to know what would happen to the little Gypsy boy. Would Joseph Mengele toss him into the gas chamber, or protect him, or what.

At long last the Allies were so near you could hear the engines of their tanks, and light rifle fire. Joseph came to get his little Gypsy boy. He took him straight away to the furnaces and tossed him in alive.

It's deeply saddening to see what is happening in the UK. When a statement like this is tolerated:

"He is a dead man. I don't know if it will be a traveller that will do it, but it will be a proper hitman, a professional job."

Of all the countries I have ever visited or lived in, I believe the UK is the one that has been most unsafe.

Those who make the laws are hardly affected by crime. They live in upper-class neigbourhoods, where they can give free reign to their guilt-complexes about how burglars, rapists and murderers are the product of being 'socially excluded'. The people who are most affected by crime are decent working class people (who come from the same backgrounds as the sociopaths who prey on society, but decide to get on with their lives as best they can). I don't find it surprising that a majority of British people believes in reinstating the death penalty for murder, and yet the British state will never consider this.

Reading this article, one would never know that prior to killing the "victim" Mr. Martin was a law-abiding man who had the misfortune of being robbed and responding to such an overture by rewarding the robber a short lesson in ballistics.

What are we Americans supposed to make of this characterization: "said the travelling community "?

If it was me with all the Barras making threats against me & mine, methinks the morgue would be busy preping up the Barras clan's remains.

If the cops do nothing, Martin is justified in taking them out in self defense.

To hell with the courts, put some travelers to traveling with a one way ticket to hell.

How soon I forget. And so true about their "sacred doctrine" of the vendetta
