Being Offended is Substitute for Thinking.

Being offended is a substitute for thinking

http://www.jewishworldreview.com -- BEING OFFENDED means never having to answer an argument.

The conversation went something like this. Caller: "I want you to know your column on drug legalization offended me."

Me: "Let me get this straight. Because I said drugs are soul-deadening and far too lethal to legalize, you were offended?"

Caller: "That's right. It made me want to hurl."

Charming, the way these Gen-Xers express themselves. I don't hear this more than a few dozen times a week: "I'm offended." "I'm deeply offended." "I was really offended." "I found your column very offensive."

You keep change the subject when I point out how you are wrong.

I haven't changed a thing. Have responded to most of your rants.

Grow up. This discussion is over.

Well since ending the discussion IS changing the subject. And you want to end the discussion, you therefore want to change the subject. Therefore I am right about you wanting to change the subject.

You know, I am REALLY offended that you're acting this way. According to your rules, that's enough to get you to SHUT THE H&LL UP. So just do it.

In the words of the writer. If you're offended by this column, write your congressman, ask your therapist to help you cope, tell it to the Marines. But, please, spare me. What he said.

I was thinking about this last night and realize how the language has changed.

No one says, "that made me angry." or "This P****es me off" or "I'm mad" any more. Now it's "I'm offended". More PC bull corn.

Nothing offends me - and I don't get mad - I get even.

OTOH, I do find some things (people) to be offensive, this thread's juvenile delinquent comes to mind ..............

Agreed. Gen X is more conservative and going back to traditional roots, IMO.

When and how did you squeeze time between your frenzied 24/7 postings of pro-dope/pro-socialist threads to make a telephone call to a columnist? You're so obsessed I can't imagine you leave yourself enough to time to visit the toilet facilities let alone place telephone calls to the outside world. I figure you keep a bong-shaped bedpan next to your computer.

What a highly offensive thing to say. Especially by someone protesting a lack of civility among his betters.

Oh, Kevvie-poo, where to start? First of all, I RARELY post WOD articles, I ping 'em, both the pro-WOD threads and the anti-WOD threads. This takes up a fraction of my time on FR. Other than that, I spend a lot of my time maintaining the FR Big Brother thread, and perusing 2nd Amendment articles. Of course, I don't now how you feel about them as much of your FR clique is comprised of admitted gun-grabbers.

You're so obsessed I can't imagine you leave yourself enough to time to visit the toilet facilities let alone place telephone calls to the outside world.

I would postulate that you are obsessed with FR articles about homos, but I won't go there.

I figure you keep a bong-shaped bedpan next to your computer.

Despite the addictiveness of FR, I most certainly have a life outside of it. I am a percussionist for a just-for-fun band, I work on campaigns of worthy Republican candidates around Election time, and I *gasp* date chicks.

Honestly Kev, what's your beef with me as of late? I've been going out of my way to be nicer to you, repeatedly comlimenting your piece on your FR home page and recommending to other FReepers, yet you ignore this and insist on posting douchey comments to me on threads I'm not even on. What's the deal?

Fun stuff! FYI, Don Feder is notoriously dishonest on the subject of drugs.
