Nine months after Sen. Paul Wellstone's fatal plane crash, some DFLers are outraged by what they consider disrespectful bumper sticker messages printed in Wellstone's green and white.
One spotted on a car parked near the State Capitol reads: "It's time to park the bus," a reference to Wellstone's campaign vehicle. Another spotted around town said, "He's dead, get over it."

I was up your way this past week and happened to drive by a house that often sported a Wellstone sign when we lived there. A new sign was in its place which read:
"We would gladly pay more for a better Minnesota." I think the owner is a state employee.

That " he's dead, get over it" bumper sticker is pretty shabby.
The Wellstone Memorial Services and Rodeo cost the Minn dems dearly in the 2002 election. This will likewise harm the Minn republicans if it is traced back to them.

This will likewise harm the Minn republicans if it is traced back to them. I doubt the Republican party had anything to to with it.

whether they did or not in fact will mean little... if it is traced back to them in media and politics.

Having read the whole article, it sure seems that the DFL is trying to find something to be victimized about. I was not aware that the late Sen. Paul Wellstone owned the rights to bumper stickers with the colors of green and white, or what is printed on them.

This is the classic ultra left wing, liberal tactic: "what you say offends me, therefore, stop saying it." And, the media takes up the cry and before you known it, the neocommunists have won another language battle.
Here, the lefties will start by saying, "You have the freedom of speech and that is fine, it is just the WAY that you say it that is so offensive." Think of any discussion about any of the left wing groups; fairies, gimps, squaws, wetbacks etc., and we are forced to use the language that THEY decided is acceptable. "Affirmative action" and "African American" are nothing more than language games, labels, that build bias into any discussion.
I guess these guys will really be offending by the advertising for the "First Annual - Thank God Paul Wellstone Is Still Dead Party!" Of course, there might be opportunity for other bumber stickers, free speech bumper stickers: "If Wellstone is dead, where are the pictures?", "Who got the reward for 'doing' Wellstone?", "Only union made beer at the Wellstone-Is-Still-Dead Party!", and so on.
Remember, their intention is to soften your language to where it is pro-Wellstone and then halo that lack of firm opposition into support for the next scum sucking, neo-commie that the dems run. "Yo, Paul, have you had a chance to meet Uday and Cusay yet; they're only two lakes of flaming sulphur over from you!"

With a Republican governor, the sign owner is likely worried about that fat state pension...

It would be interesting to know who owns the vehicles sporting those stickers -- and their political affiliation...

Didn't the DFL ask Coleman to end his campaign in memory of Wellstone?

RE: if this is traced back to the Minn. GOP;
I doubt it will be, as I can't imagine they would be stupid enough to do something so "offensive" (it is pretty tacky, at the least) to a lot of Minn. voters...but as King notes:
whether they did or not in fact will mean little... if it is traced back to them in media and politics.
Now that's a "classic liberal (anything-to-win-power Democrat) tactic"...!
