I don't care if you ever cry. I would feel pretty dead if I couldn't tear up at something sad or beautiful, but that's just me.

Film critics are often frustrated political writers ....lefties of course and more often than not homosexual.

Just because he's a conservative doesn't mean he's got good taste in movies.

LOL! That is surely fair comment, given that Hewitt and his crew brag (or at least
used to) that they had the worst bumper music in talk radio!

I didn't say I couldn't tear up at something sad or beautiful. I said I WON'T tear up on cue because some half-assed dipstick Hollywood director says I should.

Or the black cook in U-571 who just happened to also know how to operate a German U-boat!

Fantastic.... I applaud you and your firm refusal to allow anyone to try to ~touch~ you with a great story. But your sitting in a theater loudly mocking anyone who is touched makes you a rude butt-head.... and doesn't begin to make your life better than those who were enjoying it.

By 'better' I mean 'more enjoyable' not just superior.

I'll never forget when "Das Boot" was released in 1982, one reviewer criticized it for not having any content reflecting the holocaust! It takes place in a damn submarine you idiot! Were they supposed to have a mini-concentration camp in each U-boat? Reviewers are such morons.

Seabiscuit is deeply in love with a nostalgic, rally-round-the-underdog way of life -- a way of life that exists only in old movies and Republican stump speeches.

And what exactly is so bad about that?

The "underdog" movie is one of my favorite genres

"Hoosiers"

"Rudy"

"Rocky"

"The Rookie"

"Breaking Away"

I wasn't planning to see it, but I will make it point to do so at the earlest opportunity, thanks to this reviewer's wonderful recommendation.

how could you have a list and miss the top two chick flicks?

"For Love of The Game" (although the baseball story makes it watchable)

"Message in a Bottle"

I don't understand what got your panties in an knot but you need to regain perspective. By definition the kind of movie I'm complaining about isn't a great story, these movies are hacknied rubbish that make blatant plays to manipulate the audience to mask the lackluster story telling.

You also need to wrap your head around COMEDY. What makes you think I'd spend $8 to sit in a movie I don't want to see. Reading comprehension, take a course in it. You're WAY out of line and have GROSSLY misinterpreted everything I said. Come back when you've rented a clue.

You're WAY out of line and have GROSSLY misinterpreted everything I said. Come back when you've rented a clue.

I misinterpreted this?

safety tip for young FReepers: any time a girl you're dating wants you to take her to a chick flick you're not getting any, no girl is ever in the mood after crying their eyes out for 20 minutes, and even if they were their face is all puffy and red so you wouldn't want to anyway.

... if you don't mind getting kicked out of the theater that's a great moment to loudly proclaim "and now's when we're all supposed to cry because the frigid b!tch is finally gonna get some". Note to young FReepers: you WAY won't get any if you get kicked out for mocking her tears, only do what I just outlined as step one of dumping the girl.

That is the post where I pegged you and called you a butt-head. And I don't think it is possible to misinterpret in a less favorable light than what it says.

No one here is encouraging you to see this film. I would rather be in a theater you aren't in, personally.

That is the post you still don't get. IT'S A FREAKING JOKE. I didn't think it was possible to misinterpret that post, it was painfully obvious that it was a joke, just follow the subdiscussion it's coming from, but apparently I was wrong. There is at least one person on FR who's comprehension of basic English is so poor and who is so eager to knot up their panties they would take the huge leap of thinking there's somebody in the world that want to get kicked out of a movie theater and that I would be that somebody. GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE, YOU'RE WRONG, LEARN TO READ.

You'd love to be in a theater I'm in. For one thing it garauntees you're seeing a good movie and I'm extremely quiet.

Nice use of saracasm. See I can spot humor. Still sad. Really some day you'll have to explain to me why you think anyone would spend $8 bucks to sit through 95% of a movie they knew they'd hate and then get themselves kicked out of it. Waste the money, the time to get to the theater, the time in lines at the theater, the time of the previews (which are probably going to be for even more movies the person wouldn't like they tend to advertise to target audiences), and the time of the movies, all for the pleasure of getting dragged out by the usher. Even Howard Stern isn't that big a jackass.

I guess black-bitterness has to be in every single movie, huh?

I, for one, am very sick of it.
