It’s not a law, Charlie! It’s called an executive order,
... Don’t tell me that Charlie doesn’t know that.

These executive orders are simply printed in the Federal Register.
After 30 days, these orders become law and carry the full impact
of any laws passed by Congress.

Not surprising, coming from the slime who characterized our military as baby killers and thugs. Yet, he kisses Castro's backside at every opportunity.

Great tag line! One day soon we may be called to act on those sentiments.

I nearly assasinated my TV the last time this fecal matter Rangel came on and claimed we were targeting Iraqi children in the war. The guy is either insane or stupid, or both.

Rangel's rants must be predicated on what his FBI file says. His statements have no basis in fact - they are just ranting.

Though my editor characterized this article as a rant, I enjoyed writing it.

It could be that Charlie is a Democrat in an area that votes Democrat, no matter what. Even a dumb Democrat is better than a Republican to some people.

As for why people are so incredibly different, there are myriad reasons. Different upbringings, religions, regions, schooling - the list goes on and on.

Do you really think I'm gonna try to take on a Townhall.com columnist?

You're right about everything. As always. ;-)

rangel, and the other democrats, for that matter would much prefer that American troops rather than Saddam Hussine's cohorts be killed.

I capitalized Saddam's name and did not capital rangel's name nor the democrats because I have more respect for Saddam than I do for either rangel or a democrat.

"After 30 days, these orders become law and carry the full impact of any laws passed by Congress."

Not true.

Executive orders only affect the Executive Branch.

The Supreme Court Case when Truman tried to take over the steel industry clearly said that only Congress can make a law.

Supreme Court case about Executive Orders---

Youngstown Co. v. Sawyer, 343 U.S. 579 (1952)

Quote from case --- ".....In the framework of our Constitution, the President's power to see that the laws are faithfully executed refutes the idea that he is to be a lawmaker.

"The Constitution limits his functions in the lawmaking process to the recommending of laws he thinks wise and the vetoing of laws he thinks bad. And the Constitution is neither silent nor equivocal about who shall make laws which the President is to execute. The [343 U.S. 579, 588] first section of the first article says that "All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States . . . ." After granting many powers to the Congress, Article I goes on to provide that Congress may "make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof." ...."[bold added"

Executive orders only affect the Executive Branch.

I admit I am no expert on it.  But in the case at hand,
is it not the executive branch that is under discussion,
ie, the defense department.?

Serious questions: How is that Rangel has been re-elected to Congress 16 times? Do you think he's stupid?

Charlie's not stupid. He can say these things forever and his constituents will re-elect him. He says these things for effect and is probably the "slickest-sleeziest" Congressman in D.C.. In this life, he's "untouchable."

Charlie's not stupid.

I agree, he's certainly not stupid. I was trying earlier to get a discussion going concerning why he's so successful in his congressional district, i.e., what accounts for a constituency that feels he's representing their interests so well. What makes them view the world so differently than most of us do?
