Plans are being discussed to erect a statue of martial arts legend Bruce Lee in the Bosnian town of Mostar.
Local residents say they want to go ahead with the project as a memorial to one of their biggest heroes before the Balkan conflict began in the 1990s.

for some reason this reminds me of the WKRP episode where they sent 20,000 blonde wigs to earthquake victims in Nicaragua

At least Bruce Lee was real hero, unlike fake heroes of "brotherhood and unity" served by the Communists.
It would be interesting to know if Croat officer who destroyed Mostar bridge watched Bruce Lee movies. He did not destroy bridge with bare hands, but the result was never the less impressive.

The bridge was 500 years old and jewel of architectural simplicity.
"We will build new one, even older and prettier" Croats exclaimed after destroying the bridge.
If this sound weird, it is an excellent illustration of madness that reigned in Mostar during 1990's. First Croats and Muslims killed off and expelled all Serb fellow citizens and then continued to kill each other. Mostar, once historical jewel is in ruins today.
Mostar bridge was reconstructed after the war with the international efforts.
Perhaps Bruce Lee statue can bring some goodness.

{I have been jumping around from style to style.}
Same here. I noticed that a lot of martial arts schools are more interested in teaching the latest fads (i.e. Tae-Bo, Pilates) than traditional self-defense and body conditioning. Plenty of martial arts schools will say and do anything to get as many people to sign long term contracts with them. One Tae Kwon Do school in my area awards black belts to people after two years! Another one, in my neighborbood, is operated by a guy who claims to be a 10th degree black belt. In fact, he only reached the level of 4th degree black belt. He apparently decided to promote himself when he opened up his own school. The martial arts industry is so full of frauds that it is repelling people from wanting to learn the Arts from legitimate masters.

When I pulled a six month stint in Macedonia I met a woman who fled the fighting up north and was a refugee in Skopje working for the UN. Beautiful she was. She grew up in Mostar and used to walk across that bridge every day. She tried to relate it to me once what it was like to go out and see it gone, but having not suffered a similar loss, I don't think I could really grasp it totally.
