A fine speech by Dick Cheney.
To: ThePythonicCow
Somewhere in here must be the part where the administration says that we went to war because the UN told us to. It must also say that we went to war merely for humanitarian reasons. It must not say that we went to war because Iraq was a threat to our interests.
After all, George Will said that is what the administration is this close to saying.
Can you help me out and find these parts?

Thanks so much for posting this.
I haven't had much chance to watch tv today but I doubt that the media have given this wonderful speech much coverage. It doesn't say the things they want to convey.

I must have a problem with the search function on my web browser - can't see to find these parts right away. Sorry.
To: ThePythonicCow
Now the regime of Saddam Hussein is gone forever. And at a safe remove from the danger, some are now trying to cast doubt upon the decision to liberate Iraq. The ability to criticize is one of the great strengths of our democracy. But those who do so have an obligation to answer this question: How could any responsible leader have ignored the Iraqi threat?

You're welcome - thanks for recommending it.

Thank you for posting this speech. Common sense - and gravitas.
Daschle and McAuliffe are saddened.

George Will likes to think he can devine thoughts of other people.

Our strategy in the war on terror is based on a clear understanding of the enemy, and a clear assessment of our national interest. Having lost thousands of Americans on a single morning, we are not going to answer further danger by simply issuing diplomatic protests or sharply worded condemnations. We will not wait in false comfort while terrorists plot against innocent Americans. We will not permit outlaw states and terror groups to join forces in a deadly alliance that could threaten the lives of millions of Americans. We will act, and act decisively, before gathering threats can inflict catastrophic harm on the American people. In the 22 months since that clear September morning when America was attacked, we have not lost focus, or been distracted, or wavered in the performance of our duties. We will not rest until we have overcome the threat of terror. We will not relent until we have assured the freedom and security of the American people.
It's nice to have the adults in charge again.

I happened to see the VP give this speech - it was dynamite. As usual I had FoxNews on and when the cut back to the studio, the daytime guy said something like "In you face speech by the VP" -- hit the nail on the head!!!

Thanks for posting! You know that the late night JERKS on liberal radio are saying that Vice President Dick Cheney is going to be indicted for "war for oil". We find it almost unbelievable that there are American citizens out there who actually believe what the Bernie Ward/Ray Talifero's are feeding them!!! God Bless our President and our Vice President!!!!!!!
