Weiker still a Republican? If he is, he should be excommunicated.
Also, I think he has lost his mind.

Hey, the old "turd in the punchbowl" (his words) has floated to the surface. Where's he been all these years?

Weiker is a public joke, not only nationally but within the state of Connecticut. Weiker endorsing Dean is like Dracula endorsing your blood drive. Or Madonna endorsing your chastity drive. Or Enron endorsing your stock offering. Or, [name your own, other examples].
In short, this announcement is one more reason, if any be needed, why Howard Dean should never get near the White House without a visitors pass. IMHO.

Lowell P. Weicker Jr. (Connecticut)
Weicker -- a Yale educated lawyer and former Congressman (1968-70), US Senator (1970-88) and Governor (1990-94) -- spent most of his political career as a moderate Republican. After losing his 1988 bid for re-election, Weicker quit the GOP, started his own independent party and Weicker was elected Governor in 1990 as an Independent. After pushing through the controversial creation of the state's first income tax, he did not seek re-election in 1994. Weicker also made an aborted run for the GOP Presidential nomination in 1980 and briefly flirted with making an Independent bid for the White House in 1996 before endorsing President Clinton for re-election. With the open encouragement of Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura in the Summer of 1999, Weicker considered making a run for the Reform nomination. In October 1999, Weicker announced that he would not seek the Reform Party nomination because he did not want to get in the middle of the "food fight" between the Perot-Buchanan and Ventura-Gargan forces. Weicker subsequently endorsed Bill Bradley for President in January 2000.

Liar Weicker ran for Governor of CT on the promise of NO STATE INCOME TAX.....he passed one in his first year. At the huge demonstration in Hartford on his steps, against the tax AND him, we hung him in effigy. He's a scum sucking lying POS.

Lowell Weicker...great Republican supporter since the '70's...wait, Watergate?, what was that?
I remember hoping that the Democrats would have a Weicker in their ranks during the Clinton Impeachment!

What other endorsements does Dean have so far?
To: ewing
This is a real hoot... All these years after he committed his dastardly deeds, Weicker could still easily storm to the top of the list of the most hated people in the state of Connecticut (although the kind of leftie that is attracted to Dean might be just the type to worship at Weicker's feet)... We have long memories and are disinclined to give him any forgiveness - especially since there hasn't been a hint of repentence from the fat fraud for his deceit...

The one that I'm referring to is the promise not to allow and/or not to work to impose a state income tax on the populace. Weicker apologists will use a Clintonesque "it depends on what the meaning of 'is' is" defense, with weasel words saying that he promised that he would allow a state income tax only as a last resort, or something similar, rather than making a blanket statement that he would not permit such a tax to be put into place. But the voters heard a 'no state income tax pledge' from him, and so in effect he defrauded the voters of the state by promising something vitally important and then stabbing those voters in the back by working to impose the tax. And it hasn't solved anything - the appetite of the tax-and-spenders in Connecticut is voracious, and the state is still in a fiscal crisis with Demo-commies clamoring for tax increases on a daily basis.

Ah, the taxman himself endoring Dean!!
