Twelve Cuban migrants attempt to cross the Florida Straights Wednesday, July 16, 2003 in a boat fashioned out of a 1951 Chevy pickup truck driving it within 40 miles of the United States before they were found by the U.S. Coast Guard (news - web sites) and returned to Cuba. I don't see apologies here very often. You did good [sic]. And I agree with the previous sentiment that these folks are far too resourceful to become Democrats.

their bondo/painter guys deserve a lot of credit too, especially for the air force bike they did.

Paulies "helper" Vinnie (?) deserves as much credit as paulie.

Bedo is a stand-up kinda guy.

p.s., he really likes it when we do short chunks of songs like the "one of these things is not like the other" and such, especially from Barney or Sesame Street type stuff

Yeah, Vinnie is as good as Paulie...The show isn't about Vinnie though...I think Vinnie has gotten Paulie out of a lot of jams. The Stealth Chopper (pun) Bike they did was awesome!

I was thinking JunkYard Wars (which they had an episode with a vehicle that looked damn near like the one pictured in the thread).

Send them back, let them come in leagally! Make them conform to The United States, not "bring" Cuba with them!

Agreed...My point is that we waste all of our "legal" immigration slots on people coming to get "free" stuff. I'd rather use the legal slots to bring in people who are going to "become loyal and fruitful" Americans.

The difference in Elian Gonzales and these men is nothing more than he made it here...they didn't. We didn't want him to have to return to the disaster that is Cuba.

I am against illegal immigration 110%, however, in this case, I have to agree with you... great design and great humor... we need these guys.

Hats off to them and I hope they survive the evils of Castro. I can't believe we sank this classic '51 pickup.

Great design. I always hate seeing Cubans turned away. I would rather us cut down on immigration from other areas and let these freedom lovers come.

I just heard on Paul Harvey that the coast guard sank the 51 chevy pickup after saving all aboard. unfortunately they sent them all back.

I used to have a 53 chevy (pronounced chivee in San Franando, Calif). Against today's best in a car accident, that chivee would be the winner... of course the occupants would all die cuz there weren't any seat belts in them.

LOL! No way the "Yahoo staff writer" made a mistake. Here's a link to an article about women paddling across the Florida Straits. Unless it's about bondage, I'll stick with my conviction that "straits" refer to bodies of water and "straights" refer to boys and girls who like to play with girls and boys, respectively. :)

To tell you the truth (which, of course I always do), I had to look it up after you posted the correction.

I still say we need to add spellcheck to FR.

You're a braver man than me... I'm a very devout coward true to my convictions (when fear doesn't cause me to hurry away).

"Send them back..."

Why?

Aren't they 'tired, poor, and huddled' enough for you?

These are people attempting to escape Communist dictatorship, and our country sent them cack to Castro. Not too funny in my opinion.

My point exactly. We accept people from all over the world who want to leave an economically failed culture to bring that economically failed culture to America. (Mexico comes to mind...)

I would accept (welcome) twice as many legal immigrants into this country than currently come in legally and illegally combined if they would become "Americanized" upon arrival. Learn our language, accept our values (Freedom, hard work, education, liberty)

In the early years of America, a huge percentage of people were immigrants. They became "Americanized" and made this country great.

My wife's family is from Puerto Rico (American territory, but not really American culture.) Her family learned English quickly and became totally Americanized. She graduated from a large high school 2nd in her class, her brother was 1st. He is a medical doctor, she is a pharmacist. My father-in-law is an Aerospace engineer with an entire career serving the US Army. I know many Africans from Church. (I attend a Church that has been tremendously committed to foriegn missions.) They are wonderful, educated, freedom-loving people.

I will take all the people like these the world has to offer.
