21 (6) The General Assembly believes many firearm deaths and injuries are needless and can be prevented by a safety performance standard for handguns.
24 (7) The General Assembly further finds that existing technology makes possible personalized guns which can only be fired by the authorized user.
That's classic. First of all, I'm rather curious where they discovered that such technology exists, and second, how is an owner-fireable gun going to help when the owner wants to commit suicide.
This one will never make it out of committee. Unlike New Jersey, we've got plenty of gun enthusiasts, in both parties.
While mayor of Philly, Red Tape sued gun manufacturers for the deaths of people who had been shot. It was thworn out of court. Now he's simply changed tactics.
I still can't believe he was elected. MOST Pennsylvanians take their right to keep and bear arms seriously.
If it is that easy to introduce legislation, maybe we should cut-and-paste our own and introduce Vermont Carry during every session and issue press releases about passage of the "long overdue" common sense self defense bill.
Just thinking out loud.
Best regards,
