Pedestrians passing the post must clear a metal detector - but city officials' cars are cleared without checks. After they parked, Davis, Askew approached a second security post. But unlike others headed for City Hall, they walked around the post's metal detector, surveillance videos show.
In other words, he could have killed Davis at any time, but he chose to do it inside city hall for dramatic effect.

A cop on Speaker Miller's bodyguard team who heard and saw the shooting pulled out his gun and fired five times at Askew, hitting him four times. I'll bet he had a 9mm.
Anyway, do we know why the killer did this yet? Or how he was caught? I am in Europe so am sort of out of the loop.

I found the other article, never mind my questions.

Just goes to show that all the security measures in the world won't stop a determined killer.
City Hall New York must be one of the "most secure" city halls in the country, from the sound of it--and yet, 12 shots were fired inside yesterday.
The wonder of it is that no one else was hurt.

"Why?" is the question that I have. Why did this murderer do what he did?
