It cost Roselia's family $5,800 $1,200 apiece to cross the border with the help of smugglers, sometimes called "coyotes."
This means Roselia's family consists of 4.83 people.

To add to that our govt. has so many loop holes it takes the il out of illegal.
Makes me sick. Our leaders have no intention of ever doing anything about this 8 million mass migration.
Homeland Security is a joke.
It has taken me many hours of research to find that Americans are the ones being blindsided.
You cannot even accuse someone as being here illegally it is a crime against their civil rights no matter what their status is.
Employers have all the loop holes to protect their work force of illegals.
The way as I see it is our Govt. wants these migrant workers here and are more that happy to look the other way and assist them in staying.
Hospitals and social services are inundated.
The Govt. is going to change the guidelines so that the term "illegal" is obsolete.
Welcome to the civil rights movement of 2003.
My prediction is that yelling about illegals will be considered unPC and a racist action. Mark my words. The libs are gonna use this in the next election and paint the migration picture anyway they see fit to feed it to all Americans in the dark.

Excellent link! Also read at that site about illegals moving into computer programming jobs.
and an excerpt from the 'small businesses' section>
According to a study prepared by the Economic Roundtable in May 2002, up to 1.5 million of LA County's workers are now paid in cash with the result that about $1.1 billion annually is not being paid into Social Security, workers'
compensation, health insurance and other social safety net programs often used by many of those same off-the-books aliens.

On Friday,July 25, there was a Senate Judiciaty Committee on cspan2 discusing "Alien Smuggling/Human Trafficking: Sending a Meaningful Message of Deterrence "
here is the main link, with testimony links at the right side of the page>
http://judiciary.senate.gov/hearing.cfm?id=873 Mr. John Malcomb,Asst. Atty. General, testimony (excerpt)>
"Some have argued that alien smuggling is a so-called victimless crime. I would like to put that pernicious myth to rest. Smuggled migrants are often subjected to violence and inhumane and dangerous conditions. Some are trafficked into sexual exploitation or forced labor. Others die every year from drowning, abandonment, accidents or brutality by smugglers. While it is not uncommon to find one or two bodies in the mountains or in the desert, it is only when a large number of people die that the danger that smuggled migrants face garners national attention. Even if migrants arrive at their intended destinations alive and unscathed, however, smugglers have been known to extort the payment of their exorbitant fees by forcing migrants into virtual slavery, including selling them into sexual exploitation, or by holding family members back in the home country for ransom."
Also, the testimony of Jane Boyle was particularly interesting.>
