Bloomberg relaxed security at city hall where the press, councilmen and their "home boy" guests do not have to go through the metal detectors....Bloomberg is a very strange man.

Actually, according to my son who does access City Hall on a regular basis because of work that takes him there, it was Councilmembers who were able to enter without going through the metal detectors and Davis said Askew was with him thereby causing Askew to avoid the detector as well, but no one else. He said even staff workers for the council members must past through the metal detectors even though they show their ID showing they work for the city council. So, reporters and others must pass through as well. Just for clarification.

They stated on the news that all reporters, councilmen and their guests do not have to go through metal dectors. As a matter of fact, in the Post 2 days ago, the story read that the murderer bypassed the metal detector only 3 weeks ago with the councilman and that is where and when he got the idea to sneak in a gun to murder him. He know that if he accompanied the councilman, he would not have to go through the dector and could bring in his gun as he did just that.

The metal detectors were installed after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that felled the World Trade Center a few blocks away in Lower Manhattan, but the mayor, council members and their guests were routinely waved past the checkpoint, officials said.

But less than a day later, one reporter carrying a camera was seen skirting around the magnetometer as he attempted to rush into the chamber before the mayor's arrival. The policeman stationed in front of the machine appeared focused on Bloomberg's arrival a few feet behind the reporter, and did not appear to notice the apparent breach of security.

City Hall cops said some Council members griped when their guests were made to go through the metal detectors, while Council members said their guests were routinely allowed to bypass the security measures.

"Have I ever waved my staff or someone I know through rather than wait? I'm sure I have," said Councilwoman Eva Moskowitz (D-Manhattan).
