"...for every one metre of building above ground in modern-day Berlin, there are three metres below ground."
Wow! Something about this is very intriguing.

I always wanted an FW-190, and while we're at it, I'll take an ME-109.

Underground bombers! Those Nazi's thought of everything. I wonder if they had aerial land mines? Secret weapons programs by the Nazi's were just too cool.

Wow. Planes with tanks full of 58-year-old gasoline. I have trouble enough starting my lawnmower if I don't drain the tank in the fall. I'd hate to have the job of trying to get almost 60 years of gunk and varnish out of the fuel lines, fuel pumps, and carburettors.

Let the Confederate, excuse me, Commerative Air Force , know about this, the idea of original FW's and Me 109's available today should get the whole Ghost Squadron up and about.

WOW! If World War II Mustangs are worth nearly $1million each, can you imagine how much an Me-109 or FW-190, untouched since 1945, must be worth.

Suddenly, not finding WMDs in Iraq after only 3 months doesn't seem like such a big deal anymore.

We're still finding WWII secrets and the press is concerned because we haven't completely searched Iraq yet.
In the 1960's US personnel found a secret tunnel system underneath the one we had already explored in Bavaria. It was located under the General Walker hotel. Workers in the tunnels noticed that water was leaking through the floor and broke through and found a whole new tunnel system.
When I was at Rhein Main Air Base in the early 80's the Germans found a huge underground storage area full of mustard gas at the main airport.
My wife and I used to ride our bikes through the forest areas and we frequently found openings to bunkers located in the middle of nowhere.
I'm sure there's a lot that we still haven't discovered in Germany and it's been over 50 years since the end of WWII.

I know they had secret bases on the moon, but this is just too unbelieveable.

Berlin, with its sandy, dry soil, was perfect for the bunker-building of the Third Reich. Hundreds of thousands of them were constructed during the 12-year lifespan of the Nazi government: for every one metre of building above ground in modern-day Berlin, there are three metres below ground.Didn't Saddam and Osama hire German engineers to design and build their bunkers? Sounds like our Middle Eastern "friends" hired the world experts of bunker building. And the Dimwits in DC think that it is unlikely that there are any WMD buried in Iraq! If you believe that hogwash, I've got a bridge to sell you in NYC.

Very cool.
It would be even cooler if they found a couple of HE-111 bombers.
The only surviving HE-111, which was owned by the Arizona branch of the Comemorative Air Force, was recently destroyed in a crash.

Schoenefeld was the Berlin airport of East Germany, but it is not/was not in East Berlin. It is south of Mariendorf/Marienfelde in West Berlin, and is in the Mark Brandenburg, just outside the city limits of Berlin.
I was not aware that Schoenefeld was already in use in the Nazi period. Anybody know anything about that?
I was stationed at Tempelhof Airport in West Berlin from 1970 to 1972. There were rumors while I was there about what was in the subterranean floors of the barracks there, which the Russians had flooded during the Battle of Berlin. Those floors were sealed off, so we could not see what was there.
