I think your analogies are false.

The Pilgrims -- did not try to assimilate into Indian society. They were separate and were largely able to do what they wanted without fear of what "the other folks" thought.

Immigrants -- for much of our history, immigrants tried to assimilate and "act like Americans". They didn't want to rock the boat, they just wanted better lives.

The folks we're talking about today want to move to a state and change the entire political direction. That's a different thing all together. I think it's like a few white people getting into Morehouse College and immediately saying, "Look this whole 'black college' thing has got to go." I think the odds of success are quite low.

But it's a free country. Might as well try it.

There is plenty of evidence of this on any FSP thread on FR as well as the libertarian threads and the threads criticizing the reign of big government since the GOP took over the steering wheel. It is obvious that there are plenty of people who love government in its modern incarnation they just don't like Democrats

FR is nothing more than a large, online sheep pen...

Exactly what do you mean by "direct action"?

Just for you, from the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary:

direct action
noun [U]
the use of strikes, violence or protests as a way of trying to get what you want, instead of talking

It does have a certain anarcho-mau-mau sound to it.

Probably what Nicolae Ceaucescu thought in his last moments, as well. Merry Christmas!

Nah. Recall that in the latter half of the 1770s, only about 15% of the American population seriously supported the American colonies secession from Great Britain if it meant a war with what was then the world's preeminent military power. Nearly that many remained lowal to the crown, to the extent of actively taking military action against the secessionists, and nearly three-quarters were either too preoccupied with their daily subsistance or flat didn't give a fig for such matters.

Similarly, you can reasonably expect somewhere around 75% of todays citizens to reflect similar sentiments, and even among a relative hotbed of political interest such as FReeRep, you'll find a similarly large number of bleaters at the feed trough. And of course, our own Tories and Quislings, as well.

Infantile adults? The Free State Project? Or both? "Just gimme what I want and leave me alone, man!"

It's a 'Nam thing man; you wouldn't understand it. It don't mean nothin'.

Thanks for the memories....

A stronger competitive Libertarian party in WY would attract many wavering Republicans. This could reduce the GOP vote and allow Democrats to win most elections with 42 to 44 percent of the vote. That's what I meant. In other words, WY clintoids, such as their current governor, could take over the state!

In that case, it's a pity the Republicans couldn't/can't/wouldn't/won't see to adopting at least some libertarian issues in their platform. Unfortunately, socialism seems to be pretty popular with them, too.

I never thought there would EVER be a democrat governor here (Wyoming) but there is. The annointed Republican candidate, Eli Bebout, lost the election because he allegedly falsified facts to people about his connection to big business (nuclear dumping) and the fact that his son made a bad slip of the tongue to a state trooper when he was caught speeding and intoxicated - 'do you know who I am?' Big liberal-ass money is buying up land up around Jackson Hole and Cody faster than a coyote chasing a jack rabbit. It is true, we have no state income tax but there are some LESDs (liberal-egg-sucking-dogs) who are pushing it. I am a lifelong Republican and have never voted for anything but, however, the government is strangling us. Not only is the state government intrusive as all get-out but the feds (BLM) are screwed up. When the steaks and braised beef tips soaked in wine sauce dry up in the senate and congressional dining rooms then maybe they'll get worried. I sure as heck don't agree with everything Libertarians say or espouse but I do like their idea of less government. The west is governed from afar when it should be from our own state capitols, not some richardhead in Washington. Jeez!

Witness Romania, where the wombs of Romanian women were enslaved to the service of the State under Ceaucescu. There is, in fact, a middle ground.

Interesting. I hope they like dry air (usually about 15% humidity), and the winters can be pretty cold.

I hope the "Free State Project" continues for years and years. It makes me laugh until I cry and can't breathe. LOL

"My guess would be head shops."

That, and Linux consultancies.

LOL. This just an example of why I love the FSP.

Pro-gun, free-market, low taxes, private education....I don't think so.

But, . . . You forgot: pro-abortion; pro-Arab; pro-drug.

So, really: I see the Libs as an even draw between the two parties.

If your so proud of these positions why I am attacking you by pointing them out because *ding ding ding* they are the truth!

I denied the positions, you ignoramous.

It's too bad that you aren't as pro-truth as you are anti-intelligence.
