Received this email today:
I'm an attorney, and I know the law. This thing is for real. Rest assured AOL and Intel will follow through with their promises for fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suit similar to the one filed by PepsiCo against General Electric not too long ago. Dear Friends,
Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates is sharing his fortune. If you ignore this you will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remain s the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.
When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period.
For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00, for every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a cheque.
Regards..

I thought this was a scam myself, but two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwa rding it on, Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I received a cheque for US$24,800.00. You need to respond before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this Bill Gates is the man.
It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people as possible. You are bound to get at least US$10,000.00. We're not going to help them out with their e-mail beta test without getting a little something for our time. My brother's girlfriend got in on this a few months ago. When I went to visit him for the Baylor/UT game.
She showed me her check. It was for the sum of $4,324.44 and was stamped "Paid In Full". Like I said before, I know the law, and this is for real Intel and AOL are now discussing a merger which would make them the largest Internet company and in an effort make sure that AOL remains the most widely used program, Intel and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.
When you forward this e-mail to friends, Intel can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period.
For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $203.15. For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $156.29 And for e very third person that receives it, you will be paid $17.65. Within two weeks, Intel will contact you for your address and then send you a check. I thought this was a scam myself, but a friend of my good friend's Aunt Patricia, who works at Intel, actually got a check of $4,54323 by forwarding this e-mail.
Try it; what have you got to lose????
This had hoax written all over it. Geez, the supposed email address at the bottom was from csx.com, the freight railroad company! I did a FreeRepublic search, but didn't come across a posting of it - if I goofed, my apologies.
However, I did find this little nugget on Snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/nothing/billgate.htm
Just in case you got this, too. Ignore it!

These have been going around for 4 or 5 years now. In terms of real creativity, the Microsoft chain letters don't hold a candle to the 3-4 Nigerian emails I get every day.

It falls short of Microsoft's "security fix" hoax.

Ah, the Nigerian scams!
I too get several a week. I have a couple of real nice photographs of my horses which I attach when I reply.
Well, I actually just send one or the other of the pictures. Nice pictures! Only 800k each, maybe a bit larger. Actually I usually send both. A couple of times each. I figure they might appreciate pictures of beautiful horses.
Even if they are rear-views.

Bill Gates is sharing his fortune. He sure is, if you're a leftist or a queer. He's already given me a bunch of stuff, most of which has been bug encrusted.

I added it all up times the number of Microsoft users. Comes to just over four billion dollars to be given away. Gates is rich but he ain't that rich...

That is so simple and sweet. I am embarrased I didn't think of this.
Thanks for the tip. I have to routinely send out power points that sometime can be as large as 15MB. Afterward, these usually go into a file.
Lo! A new mission for them.

And now the Chineese are looking for scrap steel. (Wanna build rockets that they can wipe us out with?)
I told them I have few cans from the (imperialistic) dog food and asked them to send the boat for it.

Hoax? You just keep believing that - I got my check for $24,800 on Saturday. I'm going to send it out a bunch more times so I can finally get that house I wanted free and clear. I figure a week of sending them out, and I'll be able to get that Russian mail order bride I've been looking at. So go ahead, laugh - laugh all you want. I'll just keep forwarding the things.

Hey, the more people that believe this is a hoax, the more money there is for us to split... let them buy into the whole 'it's a hoax' thing ;0)
I got a check for $1,000 last week for doing this, and I turned it into $100,000 investing in Cattle Futures...
