EAGLE, Colorado (CNN) --Hearing NBA all-star Kobe Bryant deny the sexual assault charge filed against him made his accuser "sick to her stomach," a friend of the woman said Monday.
Bryant, an all-star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, has been charged with one count of sexual assault. He has steadfastly maintained his innocence, and after the charge was announced Friday, he admitted having sex with his 19-year-old accuser but said the encounter was consensual.

Sure there is. Remember the Michael Jackson settlement? That was settled during the criminal investigation. After the settlement, in which Jackson said was "not an admission of guilt", the kid refused to testify so the case could not proceed. The prosecutor could try the case without the girl, but probably would not.
Well, Nick, if Kobe is found "not guilty" then we can dissect her. But for now SUPPOSE her allegations are true... then she was already raped once, why should the media do it to her again? She didn't have a press conference to announce what happened.
Maybe the media should not be in this at all, but Kobe is a media personna, and loss of privacy is part of the price HE pays for the money he makes.
There is a good chance that her background is irrelevant, anyway. If there are bruises and abrasions consistent with the tears in her clothes, and the DNA matches, and the security cam in the hotel hall and witnesses from work corroborate her -- then it is obvious that he did it, and there is absolutely no reason to subject the girl to more than she has already been through.
People like sinkspur will then be reduced to claiming that she told him she liked it rough and he obliged, just to be a nice guy. Which is just absurd when they only had contact for such a brief time.
The vaginal tears -- internal ones could be from Kobe having giant noble hero penis diameter of a baseball bat as some have claimed, but tears to the skin at the entrace and the labia are from no lubrication, which means she REALLY wasn't "aroused" which means she REALLY didn't want to have sex with him. They can tell the difference.
So then sinkspur will claim that she came up, told Kobe "Quick, I don't find you sexually arousing, but I like rough sex, so throw me down and rough me up and do me anyway. But make it fast, I gotta go!"
And the rest is history...
Unlike other cases, here we know that hard evidence exists, we just dont know what it is yet. When it comes out, if it convicts Kobe, then those who have smeared or badgered this girl's character here on this forum will be rightly shamed.
Chmura has often been mentioned in comparison with this case. And it's true, he had a great reputation. He appeared on the cover of our Catholic newspaper in Milwaukee (where we lived at the time) a year or two before his situation happened. I was stunned when I heard about him, but he was living at the time of his troubles out by my sister who then informed me it was well-known that he liked to go out around the area. I had never heard that in the media and the catting around happened after we moved down to AZ and the subject just hadn't come up between my sister and me.
I do believe that story has been totally debunked.
I'm just repeating what I read in the press. You got problems with that, take it up with the AP.
But for now SUPPOSE her allegations are true... then she was already raped once, why should the media do it to her again?
Sorry. Life ain't fair. The Constitution guarantees the accused the right to face his accuser, and, in the 21st century, some of that is going to be done in the press.
Free Republic is a discussion forum, not a court of law. We are free to speculate, theorize, ruminate, and discuss. You, of course, are free to disagree, as you are doing now.
But telling people to basically "shut up" because you don't agree with what they're saying is a non-starter around here.
It doesn't appear to me that her story ever changed. The media used their usual sloppy wording and confused the issue. As far as I can see, from the beginning it was said she went to the room after she had clocked out. The first story said "room service" (with the confusion about it technically being closed and Bryant got the exception). Then the "room service" aspect was debunked, but Cosby now reports it was "hotel related" errand. As far as I can see the girl isn't saying anything to the media, so it was the media screwing up the terms and causing confusion.
I don't know anybody saying he's guilty of rape, but the police are saying they have evidence of assault and that is why I wouldn't discard the idea he could have done it. Also, I pointed out my logic in the timeline leading me to believe he wasn't forthcoming as some thought. They said he told the police right away he'd been with the girl. Yes, changing stories do go to credibility. The girl's story has not been made in the public record to enable us to judge it.
I won't feel any shame. When a girl goes unescorted into a man's bedroom or motel room there is an implied consent. That is what my mother told me, and that is what I tell my daughter.
If the man misbehaves and treats her roughly or forcibly, the girl's father or the brother pay the man a visit and teach him a lesson about good manners. The girl is then repeatedly scolded and shamed by her family until she seems to learn her lesson on how young ladies should behave.
Exactly! Especially since she is apparently so sensitive and thinks she is so special. One of her many friends lining up to say what a great gal the accuser is said, "She doesn't need Kobe to be rich and famous. She is extremely talented and can make it on her own."
This reminds me of the story that this girl drove 1,000 miles to be the next "American Idol."
I know that not all cheerleaders are alike, but a predominant trait of cheerleaders seems to be attention seeking behavior.
No, she is just sending out her minions to do the old hit and run. These "friends" are only answering questions that have answers they like. When the question probes some of the sketchier aspects of this gal's recent behavior, they either say it is not relevent or decline to answer.
You forgot the part about using a shotgun to induce a marriage proposal.
Go to Google, click on "groups", and enter Kobe Bryant's name. You'll know who she is.
Thanks to New Media, such accusations can not be made blindly against males any more. As the Founding Fathers intended, the accuser will have to do the accusing in public. The days of the blue dots are over, except for those that willfilly are shielding their eyes.
They said he told the police right away he'd been with the girl
Who are they? Knowing that Kobe was called back and arrested on the 4th, gave DNA, he had to have told the police he was with the accuser. As far as his statement on the 7th he could not have been denying that he committed adultery.
The Sheriff acting as a street patrol officer is over his head in this. Previous reports from Colorado states he strayed from protocolEagle County Sheriff Receiving Mixed Reviews
Then there's the account of the Sheriff's previous knowledge of the accuser through the Dare program and previous overdose causes just a bit of skepticism with me.
Barring temporary insanity, I can't see this guy giving up multimillion dollars just to rape some young girl, order ppv and then have surgery on a knee the next morning.
