WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- A judge handed down a novel sentence to a defendant with a lengthy rap sheet: He ordered him to read "To Kill a Mockingbird."
Judge Juan Sanchez gave William Fowlkes, 46, of West Chester, his own copy of Harper Lee's classic novel and instructed him to read it and write an essay about how his "disgusting" behavior relates to the book.

Read the book. Or as an alternative and an excellent one, watch the film.
Still one of the most memorable books ver written and films ever made.
Also recomended and perhaps an insight into the sometimes African-American rage. I mean the Rodney King incident and riots after police shootings. This is what I recomend: The Confessions of Nat Turner: William Styron. Turner (1800-1831) was a runaway slave and fomented a rebellion. 50 whites were murdered. A list provided on the net is a chilling one- ordinary decent folk.
It might be said, oh well, that was long, long ago- true. Virtually all the characters in Mocking Bird are dead also.
OK, he can read the book. But he needs a solid, world-class ass-whipping before he gets started. Public beatings used to be commonplace, and maybe it's an idea whose time has come back.
A 46 year old man behaving this way...
