Lenin had two words for them: "infantile leftists." They were in the Soviet context political activists who wanted to give no quarter to those who did not impose total communism in a day. We have them in a Western context, where they call themselves "liberals" - much as Communist Party USA chief Earl Browder hailed communism as "20th-century Americanism." Liberals they are if liberalism means political intolerance, ideological dictatorship, smear and demonization of their opponents and a ruthless and uncompromising political agenda. This has reached its apotheosis in the undertaker visage of the U.S. Senate's John Kerry (D-Mass.).
If you don't agree with them on, say, abortion or radical feminism, then off with your head! And, lodged as they are in the Democratic leadership, cash in any hope for advancement where it requires senatorial sanction. Opposed by Southern Democrats, civil-rights legislation wouldn't have achieved enactment in 1964 but for the support of Everett Dirksen and his fellow Republican senators, but you never would realize it from reading the infantile-leftist press such as the New York Times or the animadversions of Democratic spokesmen.
The leftist record since 9/11 is a horrendous case in point. In the postlude of those terrible events, some of the infantile leftists, particularly in academia, gave an obscene huzzah as America mourned. When President George W. Bush sought to gird an American defense, they either ridiculed its effectiveness or shrilled that it was destroying the Bill of Rights and inviting fascism. Operations in Afghanistan were attacked simultaneously as excessive and not enough. One columnist, until then relatively sane, even depicted Bush as a scowling Mussolini, and Iraq as another Abyssinia.
The infantile leftists pushed Bush into seeking a "mandate" from a United Nations dominated by America's antagonistic "allies" for military action against Iraq. When this failed, they accused Bush of having fumbled in taking their advice, and he was characterized by many as more of a menace than Saddam Hussein. But, when North Korea began its blackmail tactics, they criticized the Bush administration for not immediately threatening Kim Jong Il.
Before a shot had been fired in Iraq, the infantile leftists were predicting that an invasion would result in "tens of thousands" of American casualties and operations against a "defenseless" country that would take months. Sandstorms slowed the American advance, and there were small attacks from the fedayeen irregulars, read as a sign of universal resistance to "hated" U.S. forces. The advance on Baghdad will go down in military history as a superb operation and, once it was clear that the Ba'athist regime was doomed, U.S. troops were wildly greeted.
The "tens of thousands" of casualties turned out to be a little more than 100, and Saddam's vaunted Republican Guard melted away. But the infantile leftists ("liberals" to themselves and the media) did not give up. The campaign in Iraq had been the most careful in history to protect civilians - to the extent that while military targets in Baghdad were being bombed, in civilian sections of the city life went on as usual. But for the infantile leftists, the two or three bombs that went astray were proof positive of American barbarity.
With the defeat of Iraq's armed forces, it might have been expected that the infantile leftists would have folded their tents and shut up. But they were at it again, accusing Bush of planning to establish the United States in Iraq as an imperialist power, grabbing up the oil and imposing an unfeasible government on the population. The looting that followed liberation was America's fault; but if the military had taken stern measures, it would have been doubly chastised. Organizing a viable and democratic state in Iraq was an impossibility without a costly U.S. occupation of at least a decade, said the infantile leftists. Turn over the rebuilding of Iraq to the United Nations - meaning to France, Germany and Russia, which had invested billions in Saddam and hoped to protect those investments. Get out or the "Arab street" would be angered and accept casualties; stay or the Saddamists would retake the place.
The New Republic, which had been waving the bloody rag of American imperialism and represents a "moderate" infantile leftism, has devoted most of an issue to berating Bush and the Republicans for deciding to reduce its troop presence in Iraq to 30,000 and planning to get out as soon as possible. This now is characterized as a betrayal of the Iraqi people and a further manifestation of American hypocrisy.
But it goes beyond this. The terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia and Morocco - blamed on laggard Republican policies - are being held as indications that al-Qaeda and the Islamic jihadists are as tough and able as ever to continue their crusade against the Judeo-Christian West. What is clear is that in their weakness and frustration, the Islamists are turning against their own people, hoping to frighten them out of their lukewarm support of the war on terror.
Were it not so serious, infantile leftists could be likened to Mark Twain's man "who, not being able to find fault with his coal, complained that there were too many prehistoric toads in it." There is little we can do about the infantile leftist, but at least we can deprive him of the once-honorable designation of "liberal." He is as liberal as a boa constrictor.

I call on Republican elected officials, starting at the top,to take off the gloves and start hammering this message home.We cannot let the Democrat's reckless and craven attacks on our military operations continue-too many lives are at stake, both here and abroad."

I completely agree. It's past time for the Republicans to take the gloves off and let the American people know that the Democrats KNOWINGLY endanger our security and American lives for their political gain.

It's too bad the Liberals do not tap in to this forum as often as the Conservatives do they would learn more about themselves and what is really going on.
I wonder how hard MSNBC had to look to find a couple of soldiers to bad mouth Rumsfeld, Bremmer and Pres. Bush last week?, I wonder if they knew that interview would several people their careers when they decided to air it?. When I hear the democrats talk about their chances to regain power, they all seem to be hoping for another attack on America or the economy to fail, so they can have the something to attack President Bush on. That is sad in it's self
Rat bastards. I knew on 9/11, and I bet a lot of other people knew too, that the rat bastards would try to turn our response into another Viet Nam.
They are pure evil. Evil in the most basic theological sense of the word. They deny. They tear down. They cannot tolerate anything good, noble or decent. Anyone tries to do the right thing and they grind them into the dirt.
I think Ann Coulter has already done so, and better than either thee or me could.
BTW, Wild Irish Rogue - did you see that AlaskaVeteran is posting nonsense again? ;-)
Do tell.
