"History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster." -- General Douglas MacArthur
One insightful and wise man.

"Anyone who commits the American Army in the Asian mainland should have his head examined." Isn't this what the Germans tried to do in WW II?

While I love Mac, he seems to be filled with some contradiction here. First he thinks Korea needs to be defended as he would defend California...and then he subscribes to Truman's "sphere of influence" doctrine that puts Korea out that sphere. As far as invading Asia...wasn't it he, who proposed taking the US Army into China, leading to his firing?
