House Democrats Storm Out of Ways and Means Committee ("you little fruitcake")

By any standards, today represented a low point in the history of congressional comity. Democrats accused the GOP of running a police state; Republicans recounted how one Democratic member of the panel called a Republican colleague "you little fruitcake" in the midst of the standoff.
The blowup occurred as the panel began to mark up a wide-ranging pension bill sponsored by Reps. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Md.). The changes narrowed the original bill, but retained most of its key provisions.

But I thought the Demos were all about peace, love, and "conflict resolution". I'm sure the media will tell us later that evil meanie Republicans are just so mean and evil that even the intellectuals Demos snap and get angry at them occasionally. I heard this week that the media gave Julian Bond of the NAACP a pass on comparing Republicans to Nazis this week, saying that they represented the "dark side" (paraphrasing) of US society. Certainly the media will never point out that the dims actually ARE the dark side of society in manifest. No matter. We The People will spread the word.

Stark, raving mad? Actually, Stark was the model the dims used to define the "mean-spirited Republican for their attacks of the 80's and 90's.
PS. As one with 14 years of martial arts conditioning, I imagine I would struggle mightily to restrain my urge to "say hello" to this POS were I to meet him under certain circumstances.

I thought he meant that a black is black unless he is conservative, and then he is not black TO DEMOCRATS. A gay is GAY to Dems. unless he is conservative. They are outed as conservatives and that supercedes victim status, making them persona non grata to Dems.

I went to the original Post article, and it failed to give all of Fortney Starks belligerant statement. He taunted Thomas or other Repubs. to "make" him do what they wanted--figuratively saying "come get a piece of me if you think you can."
I got this on TV tonight (Brit Hume, I think--anyway, Fox) when they showed a clip of the committee recorder reading back verbatim.
I don't care how ugly it gets on the Repub. side as long as its effective. These Dems have been heading out of control for years, and have totally lost it, now.

I know a couple of gay Republicans who would be happy to discuss that remark with you in a karate dojo. They were two of the finest men I ever worked with. Both more conservative than me, which is saying something. Hated Clinton, loved Reagan and both Bushes and broken-glass pubbies. Easy. It was sort of like "a black republican is not really a black". A little play on the democratic philosophy.

It wasn't this contentious before Bill and Hillary invaded Washington, chucking spears out the back of his El Camino at all their supposed enemies....
God help us if she's ever elected president.

Yeah, in this case, i.e., using the "discredit to your race" line. The incident I'm thinking of apparently took place in May of 2001 and had Stark making comments about Watts' children. Article here:
Watts Article Coulda sworn good ol' Fortney used the race line in this one too.
