WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called for House of Representatives to annul the approval in the House Ways and Means Committee of a bill that would change pension laws. Earlier in the day, House Republicans called the police after Democrats walked out of a House committee vote on pension reforms. Pelosi called it an "indignity" to call the police on the Democrats. The Democrats had objected to a procedural move by committee Chairman Bill Thomas, R-Calif., and tried to delay the vote. While Democrats were out of the room, Thomas pushed the bill through unanimously on a voice vote. A Republican staffer asked Capitol Police to remove the Democrats from the room where they had taken refuge. The Democrats left on their own. The bill approved was a substitute for the Portman-Cardin pension bill, which would alter the way companies calculate pension liabilities and would also reform IRA and 401(k) plans.

I saw/heard Pelosi on cspan yesterday re medicare saying, "The Democrats are on a roll." She kept saying "trifecta" about every other word, stumbling over it a couple of times like she'd just learned the word.

She probably did just learn the word..I don't belong to any party but I hope the GOP rolls over the Dummycrats on this one.

Man, I bet you have some wild stories! Are you implying the Dems have been looking for a physical fight? Why would they want that? Although Bill Thomas is a jerk (always has sided with the RINOs in California and is NOT a warm and fuzzy guy) I can't imagine he or one of his staff calling the cops if they didn't think there was a real problem. Rush had a piece about that on his TV show. Rush sent him a genuine Rush Limbaugh tie. Gibbons rejected it. A friend of mine got the tie and framed it (heh-heh)

I have met Sam Gibbons and found him to be rather...well...uh...uninspiring. Gibbons had the run of the roost for soooo long. He thought he was going to be Chairman of the W&M committee, but 1994 knocked him back to minority satus. The Libs ruled Congress with an iron fist. And Rep. Archer, along with Gingrich, decided to level the playing field. Gibbons simply could not take the utter humiliation of not being king of the hill as well as having to play fair.
