WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called for House of Representatives to annul the approval in the House Ways and Means Committee of a bill that would change pension laws. Earlier in the day, House Republicans called the police after Democrats walked out of a House committee vote on pension reforms. Pelosi called it an "indignity" to call the police on the Democrats. The Democrats had objected to a procedural move by committee Chairman Bill Thomas, R-Calif., and tried to delay the vote. While Democrats were out of the room, Thomas pushed the bill through unanimously on a voice vote. A Republican staffer asked Capitol Police to remove the Democrats from the room where they had taken refuge. The Democrats left on their own. The bill approved was a substitute for the Portman-Cardin pension bill, which would alter the way companies calculate pension liabilities and would also reform IRA and 401(k) plans.

I hope they throw the book at the staffer. What a stupid thing to do. The call should have been made to the brick layers. All of the doors and windows should have been closed up with the Democrats inside the room.
Of course I wonder how working men and women will take it on the chin with the new pension and 401 [k] rules.
