WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called for House of Representatives to annul the approval in the House Ways and Means Committee of a bill that would change pension laws. Earlier in the day, House Republicans called the police after Democrats walked out of a House committee vote on pension reforms. Pelosi called it an "indignity" to call the police on the Democrats. The Democrats had objected to a procedural move by committee Chairman Bill Thomas, R-Calif., and tried to delay the vote. While Democrats were out of the room, Thomas pushed the bill through unanimously on a voice vote. A Republican staffer asked Capitol Police to remove the Democrats from the room where they had taken refuge. The Democrats left on their own. The bill approved was a substitute for the Portman-Cardin pension bill, which would alter the way companies calculate pension liabilities and would also reform IRA and 401(k) plans.

Even if one abstains (which leaves stains, by the way), It is NOT a "no vote" and can be counted as a "yes vote!" I caught one of my fellow board members on that once when a 4/5ths vote was required and he blew it!

For some reason this reminds me of a very old Star Trek episode where this woman forcibly changed bodies with Captain Kirk so that she could become a captain. The crew, of course, got suspicious when everytime (the new) Kirk didn't get his way he started yelling and behaving like he had PMS or something.

The Left portrays the Right as uncaring. We have yet to portray the Left in a singular way that resonates with the people. I would suggest we characterize them as juvenille. There is a pattern of such conduct: whether it be their childish outbursts, or "they did it too" rationalizing, or in this case, playing the childish stunt of leaving the room. Typical Dem ploy -- when their argument is weak, throw in any other complaints that come to mind. They are hoping to paint GOPers as Nazis (as was verified in the Dem call to C-Span which equated the Capitol Police with the Gestapo.)

It doesn't matter whether Dems are adding meaningful ingredients to their witches' cauldron brew. Optimistic Dems can always hope that a couple of newts' eyes or vulture talons will do the trick and make the potion deadly.
