Free Republic's International Influence
It's FReepathon time again and, as grateful FReepers, we thought it would be timely to let people know how much Free Republic has influenced political events in Canada.
Two and a half years ago we started Free Dominion as the Canada Chapter of Free Republic. When we launched our website we were touched by the moral support of hundreds of FReepers who contacted us and wished us well. We have been encouraged by our involvement in the Free Republic Network, educated at the Las Vegas FR Convention, and we enjoy being members of the FR forum.
The Canada Chapter has become very active in realworld political activities. From our first little Freep, where only a handful of us showed up in Hamilton, Ontario, to protest a speech by ex-POTUS Bill Clinton, to our recent Rally for America on Parliament Hill in Ottawa that attracted nearly 10,000 people, we are growing in both numbers and influence.
Free Dominion is currently involved in fighting same sex marriage legislation and the hate crimes bill, organizing a proposed FReep of the Dixie Chicks in Ottawa, and planning our annual banquet where we give awards to principled conservative politicians and media figures.
Online, our Canadian forum has taken off. According to Alexa.com, we are now in the top 17,000 websites in the world, generating almost 3 million hits a month.
And, finally, last week we launched a new forum called Free Dominion Boot Camp. It is an international forum exclusively for conservative kids. It is our goal to provide a safe online environment where kids can learn and discuss politics from a conservative perspective, hone their debating skills, and learn to distinguish between whether they are being persuaded with reason or manipulated by emotion. The FD Boot Camp will also include a section for homeschooled children. Parents are more than welcome to drop by and see what we are providing for their kids.
The point of this post is to say thank you to Free Republic and to encourage Free Republic members to give generously in the current FReepathon. Not only is Free Republic making a difference in the US political landscape, its waves are being felt internationally.
Your friends from Free Dominion,

Wow!!!! I have been around for less a year and didn't know about Free Dominion.
My mother was from Canada and I still have distant relatives there.
I will check out their site and I wish them well.

Good luck in your efforts.
The recent decline in moral stature of Canadians has been a great sorrow to me.

Without Free Republic there would never have been a Free Dominion. When I first walked into Free Rebublic I couldn't believe my eyes. As a rookie to the internet I couldn't help but think, "I love it here, but how can they be getting away with talking this much sense, and right out loud in public."
I watched and learned and ultimately we modeled Free Dominion after Free Republic, shamelessly stealing every idea that worked.
We are currently the biggest political site in Canada, generating more internet activity than all of Canada's official politial party websites combined. Many of our politcal leaders read us regularly and some of them are our members. They love us or they hate us, but they know we are here and they are paying attention.
The Free Republic model works and it can be imported by any country that want to gain liberty or keep the liberty it has.

Great job! And thanks so much for your FR
"hospitality suite". On the infrequent occasions when FR goes down, that's the first place I go to find out what's going on.
