I was born in Sydney Australia. I have a double dvd copy of the 2000 Olympic Opening Ceremonies and just happened to watch it last night. I have seen it a number of times including waking up very early to watch it live that Sept. 15 2000 morning and it is always moving to me as a Sydneysider. Vanessa Amorosi's Heroes Live Forever is a great moment during the ceremonies with a huge sheet covering the gathered athletes and at the end a dove of peace being projected onto it. Watching it last night however the irony of it being almost exactly a year before the attacks was notable. At the time she was singing about the athletes. We know of course there is a different kind of hero and your tribute has transformed that song into something much more meaningful. Thank you.

I heard a liberal state a long known passage to GIs.
The passage is: There are two rules of war, the first is 'young men die', the second is, 'you can't change rule number one'. Well, that's empty as hell, and it doesn't address the reason WHY young men die.
Young men die with an oath on their lips to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foriegn and domestic. They die for their country, not invane. They fight and die for the oppressed, the enslaved, they fight for their neighbor and the country that gave them their birthright. The greatest country on the face of this earth, the United States of America.
The left hates the flag, they hate God, they hate self defense, they hate righteousness, and they hate freedom. We must win this war, and the peace that follows. If we don't, and the communists in our government and the press succeed in their efforts, we will be finished as a free republic. Our American with our, strength, and liberty will be ground in the dirt beneath a dicator's boot. The untimate hope of mankind will have been erased from the annals of history with the stroke of a RED pen.
After all that doom and gloom, I'm still ready to fight. Hell, the glass is half full, let's get this fight going!

You are very welcome. I, too, heard that song during the 2000 Olympics, and immediately thought of it when designing the tribute. Vanessa has such a powerful voice for such a young lady. It really adds to the emotion of the tribute.

Would an invasion of Saudi Arabia lead to a greatly reduced threat level of terrorist attacks? Nope.
It would if you assaulted their religeous institutions in such a way as to demostrate their impotence to the whackjob faction... If you own Mecca and Medina, you can mold Islam. The weakness of the religeon is its attachment\affinity for the tangible and physical at far greater levels than others.

OK, I have a serious question for this thread...
Has at any time since the morning of September 11, 2001 any American Muslim group come forward to denounce this act? It is the one thing that truly bothers me. I can remember several nations sending condolences and regrets, heads of state, but I honestly do not remember any Muslim rejection of Osama bin Laden or any regret expressed whatsoever. All I heard was silent acceptance. Someone please correct me, because I WANT to be wrong on this one...
To: SpinnerWebb
The Silence is Deafening.
Dxmn the torpedoes that the left is slinging via the Dems & the media, America has gone into the breach.

Thanks for the ping Sparta. Godspeed to our boys overseas. A colleague of mine just showed me a picture of his boy (marine)in Iraq-he was standing in front of some mosque with his rifle in one hand and his helmet in the other smiling for the camera. I told my friend he had a good looking kid that looked fierce as hell. My friend said "Yeah he was a handful, I just wish he'd keep his helmet on". I guess you never stop being a dad.
He must be very proud of his son. His dad is a managing partner in a huge firm in Joisey. I'm sure he could have taken the easy way out and got a job with that firm or lived off of his dad. Instead he's fighting Jihadists and chiggers-twice the man that I'll ever be.

Thanks for the ping, Johnny!! Excellent! Thank you for posting the link to this tribute, kerouacbal. I hadn't seen this tribute before. I don't believe the day will come that I don't cry when I see images of that horrible day.
No, I haven't forgotten and I never will.
