Woodbridge, Va. (AP) - There was an usual burglary attempt at a bank in Woodbridge Wednesday morning.
Prince William County Police say a group of thieves attempted to steal an ATM machine from a Bank of America by ripping it out of the ground with a backhoe.
Police say the crooks stole a backhoe from a construction site early Wednesday and drove it to the bank in the 1,700 block of Old Bridge Road. Authorities say the suspects took the ATM behind the bank and tried to beat it open. That didn't work, so they put it in a stolen dump truck.
Shortly after their attempted robbery, officers pulled in, and three suspects took off on foot- empty handed.
Authorities have only a very limited description of the men involved. However, there was a tape rolling at the time, and the FBI is looking at it.
