DIKHIL, Djibouti(July 15, 2003) -- Soldiers from the U.S. Army's 916th engineer detachment, in conjunction with the Djiboutian Ministry of Agriculture, are in the process of constructing a well here to supply the district of Dikhil region with a much-needed water supply.
A key element in the counter-terrorism mission of CJTF-HOA is making a positive difference in the lives of people in the region and their environment. This element is where the 916th engineer detachment will make its mark.
"We are doing the same thing that Civil Affairs does," said Sgt. 1st Class Russell Theurer, 916th engineer detachment commander. "Instead of going out and killing bad guys, you have to have a counter part to that. If we came in here and just had a force going out and killing the enemy, then the local population would view us as warmongers."
Theurer said the engineers and Civil Affairs use a close partnership to inform the community about the task force's intentions in the region.

MARINE CORPS RECRUITING COMMAND(July 14, 2003) -- Bobby Hamilton Jr., driver of the No. 25 Team Marines Ford, and Team Marines Racing chalked up another victory in the Tropicana Twister 300 NASCAR Busch Series Race for a packed grandstand of race fans July 12 at Chicagoland Speedway.
"To see that Eagle, Globe, and Anchor come screaming by at speed is an electric thrill that only endears us more to the people of this nation. Seeing it in Victory Lane further solidifies our place in the hearts and minds of our country and its young people," said Capt. Steven Lowery, Marine Corps Recruiting Command. "I think that the NASCAR program is a tremendous benefit to our marketing program and the recruiting effort in that it serves as an exciting weekly reminder to the country of just who we are and what we are about."
Hamilton dominated from start to finish, leading 186 of the 200 laps in the race.
