UN VOTE TODAY !
15 July 30

July 15, 2003
Our opportunity is at hand! We wanted a vote on Congressman Ron Paul's H.R. 1146 (withdrawing the United States from the United Nations) and we got it.
The House will vote late this afternoon or early evening on H.R. 1146 as an amendment to H.R. 1950 Foreign Relations Authorization Act. The amendment reads: "Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, none of the funds authorized to be appropriated by this Act, may be obligated or expended to pay any United States contribution to the United Nations or any affiliated agency of the United Nations."
In plain language, that gets the U.S. out of the U.N. no money, no membership.
This is not a dress rehearsal this is your life. Put down your pencils, start contacting people...start with your U.S. representative and then spread the word. It's time to stop talking about how bad the United Nations really is and do something about it:
Get the U.S. out of the U.N.!

I can't wait to see how the votes fall later this afternoon.

I have to leave for a couple hours. When do you think they'll start the vote?

Uh oh--I went back to the TV and saw Bow-Tie Blumenauer. Not a pleasant sight.
To: Mr. Mojo
As soon as all the other amendments are out of the way--and I don't know how many there are.

Any number of variants on this have been posted today, with slightly different headlines. Wouldn't it have been easier to bump one or two of those threads than to start yet another thread? In the interest of full disclosure, I think it would be fair of you to mention that you have a strong dislike of the author of this legislation.

Hyde just said that even though he doesn't agree 100% with some other amendment that he will vote for it. The amendment was agreed to.

Hyde and someone else just had a "canned" conversation, you could tell they were both reading a script.

I believe it was Fmr. Rep. Matt Salmon who said House debates are mostly theater anyway.

Thank God they're en bloc and not one at a time...
To: Guillermo
Trust me, if the vote totals hit your estimates it would be a big step in the right direction, considering only 12% of the US House supported sovereignty last time.
