I would assume your friend's homeowners insurance (or renters insurance) would cover any items he's keeping for you. Talk to HIS insurance agent...

Actually, that probably will not work. If the total value of your firearms are over $2500 (for most policies) they have to be declared under the policy. Most homeowners policies only cover property which you own and which is under your control. Your buddy keeping your firearms would be under his control and probably would not be covered under his homeowners (because they are not his guns). Your homeowners probably would not cover your weapons unless they were stored in your home.

The best course of action is to probably contact the NRA where you could get some sort of personal property policy that's geared specifically toward firearms. The special policy might cover your weapons stored in a friends house.

Best bet is to read your policy (and his policy) and look for the phrase "care, custody, and control".

I’m thinking that’s what I need to do. And I'll just the pay the difference on there policy, but allot of home owners insurance policies have very limited coverage anyway for firearms. I still would like to find something that is a straight policy just for these items.

I don’t keep my car and boat inside my house and I have those covered.

There’s has to be something out there.
