Before CJSOTF-A, there was CJSOTF-S that controlled it all after TF Dagger desolved. I was a J3 in TF KBAR. A conventional officer, and a real REMF.

Read the hunt for bin laden, the story of TF DAGGER by Roger Moore, it's about 90-95% correct. And really hammers the conventual pukes, especially Franks.

I once tried to get the special operations to use available conventual troops as a ready reaction, blocking force, and have available motars to support the mission, I was told "Are you out of your mind, they'll (conventional forces) will kill us."

Both SF and conventional need to learn to work together better.

OK, I did my HQ time with TF Whitehorse that replace the guys that replaced... uh... Dagger, I think. or there might have been another in between.

I spent a couple weeks at CJSOTF, one waiting to go in, and one waiting to go BACK in after a medevac. The place worked well but coord with 82nd was poor. No more detail on that here, I think.

Robin has about zero cred with Group any more thanks to that group. I actually know and like the guy (he's very ill, though). But some of the stuff in that book, especially the stuff about Idema, is complete fabrication.

The part where the team finishes a fight and starts singing "the Ballad of the Green Berets," that's particularly hilarious. Not intentionally, but hilarious.
