[history]
Supporters of Democratic Gov. Gray Davis on Monday plotted potential court challenges to a Republican-led recall campaign and prepared to take their counterattack public Tuesday.
They said all options were open.
"We're looking at everything in terms of who's handling petitions, what the people were being told, whether people who were circulating petitions were legally able to do so or not," said Nick Velasquez, spokesman for Taxpayers Against the Recall.

If they challenge this in court, this could be a big win for our side if we play it right!

"and in the second they would choose from a list of candidates to replace him. Davis' name would not be on that list. ...
The state's major Democratic officeholders have said they do not intend to put their names on the ballot to replace the unpopular governor. Strategists from both parties believe Davis would be more likely to survive if there are no Democratic alternatives. If the voters can not vote for Davis ( his name will not be on the list), how could he "survive"???

Typical of the Davis sleazoid machine. But if today's stats are accurate 30% of registered RATs support a recall. Even if the bastard gets it delayed until the March '03 primary the State budget, et al and ecomomic situation could really spell trouble for the RATs.
"There is such a Democrat, isn't there, Sen. Feinstein?"
Leon Panetta's name got floated by Assem. John Campbell last Friday.

If the voters can not vote for Davis ( his name will not be on the list), how could he "survive"??? The recall ballot has two parts.
In the first part, the vote is whether or not to recall him. A 50%+ vote for the recall finishes him. If 50%+ vote against the recall, that ends it.
If he is recalled, the vote in the second part of the ballot is used to select his replacement. The candidate with the highest vote count wins and becomes the next governor.

I hope the Democrats press ahead with this suit of theirs. It will make them VERY popular with the voters. :)

"Somewhere there must be a Democrat who shares the public's judgment that Gray Davis has failed but believes that voters should have the chance to choose another Democrat as governor if Davis is recalled," the newspaper said. "There is such a Democrat, isn't there, Sen. Feinstein?" The newspapers of this country no longer even pretend to be objective.

The leader of Iran has offered to resign because so many citizens are angry with his government. He told the people "if you dont want me, than I will just go. And today Governor Gray Davis said, "shut up. Quit saying that.
