[history]
I'M RE-READING George Orwell's classic dystopian novel, "1984," so I may be a bit sensitive to official language that masks what's really going on. In the bleak world of "1984," as you may remember, the Ministry of Truth publishes lies, the Ministry of Love tortures people and the Ministry of Peace wages perpetual war.

"The president's real agenda is to starve and shrink federal programs and get out of the business of providing services to the poor."And this is a bad thing?

Actuallly, W and the Republicans are increasing spending across the board at record rates. Let's keep this reality in mind. (And my favorite present Orwellianism is "Homeland Security". If you don't think that's Orwellian, try not paying your jproperty taxes, and you'll find out just how "friendly" Officer Friendly is.)

Yeah, whatever,
Ruth. I remember a boss piling on the hours on me...I went in and told him I was "declining the opportunity to work overtime". He wasn't pleased, but he got the message. Was that doublespeak? Nope.
BTW, the Clean Forests initiative will help the forests. The environmentalist idiots you probably support don't want any logging, and thus we get overgrowth and huge piles of tinder ready to burn. But what do you care about the environment, right, Ruth? All you want is some new angle in which to attack the President.

Your assessment in post #6 is 100% correct. Ruth is just another Leftist that I'd love to meet on the Battlefield.

"
Marian Wright Edelman, president of the Children's Defense Fund,"
There's the big clue. MWE is the source and motive for this hit piece. Or someone in HER circle of harpies.

I'm sure the author didn't have any problems with the kings of doublespeak, Bill Clinton, Tom Daschle and the like.
