Accused Murderer Scott Woodring Is Dead
By Sheri Diorio
Posted: 7/13/2003

Michigan State Police say Scott Woodring is dead. Woodring is accused in the shooting death of Michigan State Trooper Kevin Marshall.

Police say Woodring was found early Sunday morning in a car at Maple Island Road and 60th Street in Dayton Township on the Newaygo County line. Police say Woodring got out of the car when police approached and pointed an assault rifle at police. That's when police shot and killed Woodring.

The standoff between police and Woodring began last Sunday. That's when police tried to serve Woodring a warrant at his Dayton Township home on charges of accosting children for immoral purposes. During the standoff on Monday, police say Woodring shot and killed Trooper Marshall. On Tuesday after a police fired a percussion round, Woodring's home burned to the ground.

Stay tuned to WZZM 13 for continuing coverage of the Woodring case.

Yes, particularly when those who defend all cops killers are on the threads spreading doubt.

The majority of police are criminals?

No assertion is too asinine for Woodring's followers.

"Have you considered that perhaps we have burdened the citizenry with a few too many laws ... for their own good?"

Yes, I just don't see any public movement for reversing the trend unfortunately.

"In these areas you speak of, what would you say is the most common "crime""

I couldn't say. I'm lucky not to work in too bad of an area. But in precincts with nicknames like "Fort Apache" and the lesser-known 75th ("the killing fields") there is an enormous amount of violence.

" It's says something about our society, that we have created entire communities where there are just ... police ... and criminals ...no "ordinary citizens... that’s odd somehow don't you think?"

I'm not saying everyone in those areas is a criminal. But I bet you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that isn't either a friend or a relative of a current or ex-con. More "civilian control" would lead to the effective de-policing of such areas. There is a difference between proactive and reactive policing and you'd eliminate the former completely.

Is it odd that there are such areas? I find it to be a predictable result of generations of liberal social engineering and a complete abdication of the concepts of responsibility and two-parent families.

They hang out with the dregs of society, judges, lawyers, politicians, and the media. They take their orders from these career criminals, and most of them routinely violate their oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution, and the rule of law. So yes, the majority of police probably are criminals at large. The (il)legal system is in dire need of reform into a justice system.

Waco? The only problem there was that the fed authorities didn't concern themselves with, and protect the lives of the kids in there. It so happens that that creep didn't run a church, he was a blank, a blank that intimidated the TX authories enough that they baulked at returning lawful guardianship of one of those kids to the MI father that demanded they act. Had they acted, that blank would have been in jail, and the original raid never would have happened.

I don't see how that follows at all. The raid wasn't about child abuse or child endangerment, or anything else involving "the children". The Texas authorities, that is child protective services had investigated those allegations and found nothing. Doesn't mean there wasn't anything to find of course, but the matter was acted on by the proper autorities and with some degree of cooperation by Koresh and the Davidians. Even if the child in question had been returned to the out of state guardian, the raid would in all likelyhood still have occured.

The raid was about allegations of not paying a $200 tax on a few rifles and a lower tax on some supposed destructive devices (a matter later shown to be completely bogus) Even then no physical evidence was ever offered at trial (of the survivors) that any illegal machine guns ever existed. Oh the BATF testified that they did, but wouldn't let anyone else examine them to verify their existance. Koresh may have been a Blankity blank blank, but that is not the province of the BATF.

malitia

it's militia. Hate to do a spelling flame but that particular one drives me up the wall.

BTW, the militia are us, not just some guys running around in the woods wearing camo, not that there is anything inherently wrong with that. Freedom of association/assembly and the right to keep and bear arms being exercised at the same time is what that is.

In Texas, by law, the militia is all citizens, plus resident aliens who have declared the intention to become citizens, 18-60 years of age, the federal definition is 18-44 and only includes men plus female members of the National Guard.

a Makarov. Sporting a cartridge that is something of a performer, and which can - with the right bullet - punch through body armor.

A Makarov fires a 9mm short that is somewhere between a .380 and 9mm Parabellum/Luger in power, probalby closer to the .380. Maybe you mean a Tokarev, which fires the 7.62x25 round, which is a pretty hot round, if somewhat lacking in the diameter department (7.62mm is .30 caliber).

All because no arrest warrant was carried out, all because Scott Woodring REFUSED to take advantage of his due process rights.

I suppose now that Woodring is dead, ya reckon the authorities will release the gas station video where Woodring allegedly accosted the young ladies?

hahaha I run into that all the time. Normally what I find is that those who say "malitia" usually takes years to educate them on "militia".

Are we sure he was a murderous pervert? And if so, what evidence do we have? Media clips? Just curious.

The victim is not dead. Showing tapes of perverted crimes against minors is frowned on. Michigan's Victims' Rights laws will prevent the tape from being shown.

Well, being that a cop is dead, leaving a wife and children, and Woodring is dead, leaving family as well, and since the alleged "accosting minors" incident seems to be the ticket that started the whole charade, I for one, would be greatly interested in exactly what happened at the gas station.

Yes, I know the raid had nothing to do with the MI custody case. My memory is hazy on it, but Korersh did take part in hindering the return of that kid to her MI father. I think the girl was returned about a month before the raid. Realisitcally though, very few States and the feds honored custody decrees. Usually it's only when a man grabs and flees with the kids that a fed charge of kidnapping is made. If the woman flees with the kids, most often she is pampered. In actuality, Koresh was harboring a kidnapper and impeding return of the kid.

Well, not to say that is what actually happened, but if so, anyone who points a rifle at a cop, or anyone else, might just get shot.

I confess I haven't been following this story much which leaves me rather confused.
My brother, who is a fellow Freeper, happens to have been following this story closer than I.
The few reports I have read don't agree with what he said.

While discussing the story, he said the house probably burned due to a propane line being cut. When someone fired, the house went up. He had also made other statements regarding Woodring's escape & whether the girl lied about being propositioned in the first place, considering the guy complained about girls dressing like trash. I must admit I complain about the way teen girls dress now... & I happen to be a teen girl myself, which means I also know what lies they're capable of concocting.

I'm definitely not looking for an argument, just an answer or two... possibly a link to any info I may have missed.

Interesting follow-up on the Woodring story.

http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2003/07/30/2/?nc=1

Michigan amateurs assist in manhunt: Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and Radio Amateur Emergency Service (RACES) assisted authorities earlier this month in tracking down an individual who was alleged to have shot a Michigan State Police officer to death on July 6. The officer was attempting to arrest the suspect, Scott Woodring, KC8JNG, on a warrant for solicitation of a minor. A tense standoff with law enforcement resulted, and Woodring--a reputed member of the Christian Identity movement--eluded police during a shift change. Michigan Section Emergency Coordinator and State RACES Officer James Wades, WB8SIW, says a nearly weeklong manhunt ensued throughout Western Michigan. Woodring (name error-should be Wades) requested the Newaygo County EC to establish an intercept operation in the area of Fremont to spot possible transmissions from the suspect. "This request was based on the fact that Mr. Woodring had utilized Amateur Radio frequencies and equipment to communicate with fellow members of the Christian Identity movement," Wades said, adding that it it was believed Woodring may have purchased 2-meter transceivers for use by his cohorts. "Operators were asked to monitor seldom-used frequencies both within and adjacent to the VHF Amateur Radio allocations," Wades said. The effort hit paydirt on July 11, when Bill Hubbard, WD8MKG, of Holton intercepted communications between Woodring and a ham in Fremont. Michigan State Police were promptly alerted, and MSP investigators subsequently requested assistance ARES/RACES. A radio-direction finding team from Kent County, under the supervision of District 6 EC Tom Vandermel, KB8VEE, was brought on scene. Subsequent assistance was obtained from RACES members in Ottawa and Muskegon Counties. The RDF activity continued until July 13, when Woodring was located on a tip from a local resident and shot to death after he reportedly leveled an assault rifle at officers and refused to comply with directives, Wades said. "Michigan State Police officials expressed genuine appreciation for the efforts of the Amateur Radio teams," he added. "Considerable positive feedback has been received from a variety of senior officers who now have an 'expanded' view of Amateur Radio capabilities."
