Accused Murderer Scott Woodring Is Dead

Michigan State Police say Scott Woodring is dead. Woodring is accused in the shooting death of Michigan State Trooper Kevin Marshall.
Police say Woodring was found early Sunday morning in a car at Maple Island Road and 60th Street in Dayton Township on the Newaygo County line. Police say Woodring got out of the car when police approached and pointed an assault rifle at police. That's when police shot and killed Woodring.
The standoff between police and Woodring began last Sunday. That's when police tried to serve Woodring a warrant at his Dayton Township home on charges of accosting children for immoral purposes. During the standoff on Monday, police say Woodring shot and killed Trooper Marshall. On Tuesday after a police fired a percussion round, Woodring's home burned to the ground.
Stay tuned to WZZM 13 for continuing coverage of the Woodring case.

Sam Sheperd was in there with Woodring also?
Damn!

Everyone on this thread is old enought to remember Matsuidon.

BEFORE the shooting started. How could HE have shot the Trooper who wasn't there? Trying that one again? You know the neighbor was talking about Tuesday's shooting. Marshall was shot on Monday. Keep trying.

I wonder if anyone saved the Matsuidon threads. It would be entertaining to compare some posts then and now.

Everyone on this thread is old enought to remember Matsuidon. Everyone but me. I have no idea who or possibly what Matsuidon might be.
But I have no fear, for I know that shortly you will educate me on this subject.

Sam Sheperd was in there with Woodring also? Clearly not, he has been dead for decades (Just who is playing the idiot here?), but he is a well-documented case of LE being completely wrong.
And ruining a good man's life in the process--with no penalty to LE, I might add.

"Just who is playing the idiot here?"
I don't think you're playing at all.

Ah, the Free Lunch Project. What exactly is your issue with the FSP? Afraid of the lack of gun laws, perhaps?

You're too concerned about the plight of the criminal and mixing it up with, and diminishing the plight of the law abiding. You have to focus and keep things separate to be able to think clearly. The very existence of the US depends on protecting the ability of the govm't to govern things, not the ability of any particular individual(s) to dictate their particular will and law upon others.
Well said.

I am not taking the position LE is always wrong. I am taking the position that there should be much greater scrutiny of the stories LE tells, and that the citizenry should have much more control over LE than they do now.Unfortunately there are dangers in that too. Once you bring in outside, civilian observers so to speak, they can come along with their own agendas and luggage, and actually hinder law enforcement.
Personally, I think when a warrant is served on an alleged dangerous suspect, it ought to be video taped. As in this case. Video tape is cheap. It should have been used today, when the eight man team went to the suspects location this morning to effect an arrest, it too should have been vidio taped for legal purposes, court evidence, etc.
Just like when LEOs use video tape in routine DUI stops, they should be routinely used in serving search warrants, arrest warrants etc.
Some large city departments are already doing this. Some areas are so dangerous that two or three black and whites full of uniforms are used just to serve an arrest warrant, and they are video taped.

If the FSP is comprised of the type of anarcho-ideologue loons we see squatting on FreeRepublic, your concern would be moot anyway, as their Jonestown would last about a month.

Thanks you very much...this will be fun.
To: CurlyDave
dighton has graciously provided you a good reference point on Matsuidon.

You raised a good point, as technology might be able to curtail abuses and wrong decisions as the technology advances. Law enforcement of the future won't have to guess where the Scott Woodbrain of the future is lurking.

Simply amazing. In just one thread some of the same people are there making the same arguments.

But you're the one always saying how people should quit griping on FR and actually do something. The FSP has peopple looking to live in a liberty-minded society, completely within the bounds of the law.
I don't see how you could possibly be against this. All the libertarians could move to their state, stay out of your hair, and you could stay in California. What's the problem here?
