CICERO, Ill. -- A Chicago bus driver's unscheduled stop in suburban Cicero is proving very costly.
The Chicago Transit Authority had to shell out more than $1,200 to get the bus back after the driver pulled over Friday night, allegedly to connect with a woman he thought was a prostitute.
She was actually a Cicero police officer. The driver was arrested and other officers impounded the bus.
Transit officials said the driver was a part-timer, and if the allegations against him are true he will be fired because he was still in his probation period.
Cicero police said the arrest was part of a new prostitution sting operation, which has resulted in more than 100 arrests and the impoundment of 71 other vehicles.
Seriously, this brings up an important issue. I find impounding property, with a remote connection to the offense charged, before the accused is convicted to be very wrong. Impounding someone else's property is even worse.
The former President disembarks from his airplane after a trip back to Arkansas. Although the hoopla is less now that he is out of office, Clinton still occasionally finds himself greeted by military personnel. This is one such occasion. He climbs down the stairs, carrying two huge pigs, one under each arm. He gets to the bottom, and nods his head in return to the soldier's salute. "Son, what do you think about these?" he says. "Nice pigs, SIR!" comes the reply. Clinton gets mildly miffed and lectures, "I'll have you know these aren't just pigs but the finest of Arkansas Razorbacks. Top notch. I got one for Hillary, and one for Chelsea. What do you think about that?" "Nice trade, SIR! |

The implication being -- that if he was past his probation period, they would not fire him.
I'm amazed such laws can survive "judicial scrutiny".
Actually, I'm not.
The implication being that if he was past his probation period the union would not ALLOW him to be fired.
