A group of British and American researchers said yesterday that the number of killed because of the American- British war against Iraq reached more than 6,000 following statistics that covered the victims in remote areas in Iraq. Earlier statistics said that 5500 Iraqis were the victims of the war.
The report of the researchers which was issued under the title "defining the number of Iraqi bodies" was based on reports of the mass media and 12 programs to define the number of killed Iraqis. Independent investigators from inside and outside Iraq took part in the investigation. The report estimated the number of killed Iraqi civilians as 6055 minimum and 7706, maximum.

Well, we lost 3000 in the 911 mess...seems like two to one is a heck of a bargain! But we can do more...let's try harder!

So actually, even this source must conclude that the operation was a huge success. "Hundreds of thousands" was the estimate I heard bandied about so often by the leftist media.
To: 50sDad
In the old days, it was a function of which group to which you belonged. I believe the Romans charged 100 to one. The Ottomans and Arabs had similar ratios. And the consequences were applied to whom ever happened to be in the street, not combatants.

Exactly. /wringing hands/ "We'll kill hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians!"

Translation : More than 6,000 Iraqis killed Because the Iraqi Government Broke a Cease Fire ; an estimated 132 Per Day Saved From Hussein's Torture Chambers
Yes, folks, when a country violates a cease fire, it, and not the other country, has chosen to restart the fighting.

How many had weapons? I really don't believe this number. They would have been screaming holy hell if we had killed that many! Sounds a bit man made?

How many had weapons? Who knows? There's really no way to tell.
I really don't believe this number.
I'm skeptical about it myself but I have no specific reason to believe or disbelieve it.

Agree 100%. I have no idea what agenda these 'independent researchers' or the reporting paper might have.
