The Constitution of the United States is our NATIONAL FOUNDATION.... and if that foundation takes a NEUTRAL stand on a FUNDEMENTAL morality issue, specifically the definition of mariage... we have by our act of ommission created a very weak foundation.. the fact that we are having this debate is what bothers me the most... I am convinced that this is the ONLY way to settle the debate on exactly what "mariage" is in the United States...
This is a debate we must NOT compromise on because it cuts to the very heart of morality...
and the fact that a U.S. Senator would dare make the following statement....
As a matter of personal belief, I do not support gay marriage, although I believe that gays and lesbians in committed relationships have both rights and responsibilities and should be entitled to partnerships benefits under our laws.
John Edwards United States Senate
...tells me that tollerance of immorality has reached a whole new level in this country and that this issue can only be put to rest by CONSTITUTIONAL AMMENDMENT....
We MUST insist that ALL of our legislators take a stand on this issue and their ability to Support and Defend the Constitution be judged accordingly...
I SUPPORT HJ RES 56....

50,000 people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out. A refund is then due. The team is about to mail refunds when the Congressional Democrats stopps them and decrees that they send out refund amounts based on the Democrat National Committee's interpretation of fairness. After all,if the refunds are made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the money would go to the wealthiest ticket holders. That would be unconscionable! |

HJ 56 IH
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to marriage.
Mrs. MUSGRAVE (for herself, Mr. HALL, Mr. MCINTYRE, Mr. PETERSON of Minnesota, Mrs. JO ANN DAVIS of Virginia, and Mr. VITTER) introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to marriage.
we are in for an UPHILL battle on this HJ Res 56.. I am committed to getting the word out and trying to get this passed and settle this troubling moral question.. I NEVER thought I would be advocating a U.S. Constitutional Ammendment, and would normally be opposed to doing so.. I have made an exception in this case becuase the Supreme Court failed in it's duty to uphold the "moral intent" of the Constitution itself.. so now "WE THE PEOPLE" must make it very clear to the Supreme Court that we still demand that the foundation of our Nation's SUPREME LAW is grounded in MORALITY...
