I like his contrast of Garofalo and Savage...

Totally agree. While I listen to Savage on the radio sometimes, he really can be grating. He is rude and calls names often. On the other hand, his book "The Savage Nation" was right on, but he is incapable of delivering his ideas on the radio in an adult fashion. Most of the time he appalls me.

Savage behaved like his name.....conservative Joe Scarbrough is the better choice....in the attempt to be more like FOX.

Savage is a loud-mouthed idiot... as soon as his 'bumper music' starts I'm dialing for Sports Talk.

I tried to suffer thru him once or twice, but he's just an egoist who has trouble expressing his viewpoints without screeching and slobbering like a rabid stray.

Borders, Language, Culture - he should really put the last two in practice...

When someone starts to raise his voice, like Savage does on the radio, I'm afraid there might be a confrontation. My muscles turn to jelly and I feel like I need extra Polygrip.

Why can't we all just submit to voluntary castration get along?

Me too. Life's too short to be "angry" all the time, especially when we are winning.

And yet to their credit (MSNBC)they were smart in picking up Joe Scarborough. I'm starting to watch him more than Hannity and Coombs. I get so frustrated with H & C because they let everyone talk at once and dont seem to want to stop it. At least O'Reilly cuts off the mike of a grand stander when he has too. Scarborough has control of his guests and makes for better watching. IMHO Of course that is the only thing I watch on MSNBC. Chris Mathews sucks and when he was rude to our Ann Coulter, that was it for me.

I agree with you. Most of the time I get depressed listening to Savage because he is so angry and doom and gloom. I find I do listen to him when I'm in an angry, doom and gloom mood--misery loves company.

I don't mind the Scarborough show at all--he's a pretty well thought out guy. Hannity's a good guy but he and his show can drive me nuts at times. By far, Chris Matthews has got to be one of the most annoying liberal men out there--maybe only Phil Donahue is worse.

Ditto to all the above.

>Savage’s program was a ratings disaster, beaten . . . well, savagely in the ratings by Fox and CNN

Does not look kosher - Savage Nation ran unopposed at its time slot and rated number 1 according to the postings on FR.

You saw it and I saw it - it is rediculous to claim the show was not entertaining - we were all glued to it. You might not like it but you watched nevertheless, didn't you?

What do you mean ran unopposed. There is always something else on cable. FNC and CNN have programming 24/7. Plus ratings are not just compared to other news networks but to all programming. Apparently Savage couldnt compete with Buffy re-runs.

I watched fifteen minutes of the premier episode and then switched to a baseball game. I never saw it again. I knew Savage wouldnt translate well to TV. He's hard enough to take on the radio.

No, I didn't.  I watched maybe ten minutes of the first
airing of his show on MSNBC.  If I have to
watch "Cruising," I'll take Al Pacino.  Savage's
outlaw version of conservatism is mostly
Gene Scott without the erudition, and had
the production values of Lunch with Soupy Sales.
