Welcome to the web site of the Christine Todd Whitman Excellence in Public Service Series. The Whitman Series is a political leadership training program for Republican women in New Jersey, run by an independent board of Governors and supported by corporate and private contributions. Our mission is to increase the number of New Jersey women involved in government at the local, county, state and federal levels. New Jersey needs programs such as the Whitman Series because it ranks 43rd among the 50 states in percentage of women in its state legislature, a ranking which has declined steadily since 1996.* At this site, you can learn more about our program and our alumnae. You can obtain an application (due August 1st each year); link to websites of our sister Series in other states, or link to other sites of interest to women in politics and government. The Whitman Series does not take positions on issues, does not support or oppose candidates for public office, and does not select its Scholars based on their positions on issues.

"I firmly believe that government can best serve the interests of its citizens when they are fully represented. The more diversity in the process, the more likely the process will work. Women bring a very different perspective to issues because our life experiences are different, along with our priorities. By expanding the pool of talent, we are able to draw upon more of those experiences to make good policy."

Sounds like a barf alert in my book. She just can't keep her name out of things and just fade away like most of us would like her to do so.

Uh oh, what did they do to you? If they have new guidelines they should post them somewhere. I never post to breaking news since I am still not sure what they consider breaking news. 9.11 to me was breaking news and maybe the start of the Iraqi War, that's about it in my book. But is seems there is stuff there added every day. If they work on their guidelines it would make it much easier for them and us.

And then there's that 'diversity' word.
Truly stomach turning!

Nope, she has a big ego and needs to feed it and needs to push her pro-abortion feminist agenda to the women of NJ.

Sounds like a barf alert in my book. While Whitman is horribly misguided on some environment/global warming issues, her activism toward women in government is entirely appropriate. Doing things for yourself is the Republican way. More power to her.

That's one of many issues where she is misguided, she was a disaster as governor and the republican party couldn't wait to get rid of her.
