Just a guess ...but watch for the other times Iraq tried to purchase uranium in Africa to come out.
Bush is about to beat the RATS over the head with the bloody stump.

Funny thing is the Dems probably believe that Bush has shown his hand. Bet not. There is stuff Bush and Blair are keeping to themselves.

Bill Gertz said "huge fights go on about shall and may" in intel. It is a mosaic and one has to be careful about calling a mistake a lie.

Bush is letting Tenet hang. This all very defensible since Bush cited British intelligence which still believes that Iraq tried to aquire uranium in Africa. The goat is already dead......

Or maybe Bush stands behind Tenet, because he doesn't think another person could do a better job. I think Bush believes in delegating, and he believes in loyalty. Both are very telling about how the President sees his role in the government.

Does freedom of the press apply to libel? I didn't think so...
The CIA should demand the names of the source this article (a mole by any definition in the CIA). If information in a "press" (as we know it - propaganda) article turns out to be intentionally false, then the source of the article should not be protected by the freedom of the press.
Not only is the source responsible for the libel act, they have most probably violated their security clearance, and violated a whole host of laws regarding national security.
If the reporter refuses to name his source, he should be held in contempt of court, or be held personally responsible for the libel act. It should be in the ethics of Journalism (isn't that a joke) that if a source intentionally provides false or misleading information they will not be protected by the journalist that they gave the information to. It should impugn the honor (as if journalists had any) of the journalist to allow himself to be used in this manner.

If you start hanging intelligence producers every time they pass along information of less than sterling provenance and less than category "A" validity, you'll soon have no intelligence producers and no intelligence of any kind.

Andrea Mitchell NBC NIghtly News reports, "Tenet fell on his sword". She ends her report by saying, " but the administration had plenty of notice that the intelligence was flawed.".
David Gregory's taped report was very accusatory, so what's new. Both were dismissive of Tenet taking responsibility, obvious they aren't ready to stop the attack on Bush. After Mitchell, NBC showed a tape of John McCain saying there needs to be an investigation. The people need to know, and the president needs to know who's responsible. That's basically what he said.

McCain thought he would go for the blood in the water. He acted too soon, in my opinion.

Unlike that idiot Pellosi, who wants OPEN(!) intelligence. Can you believe these people? I guess it's true that they do want to destroy America and Western civilization.

Bush just issued a statement from Africa....stating he has full confidence in George Tenet....

Wrong. He is taking the blame for not removing the line. He did not say that he or the CIA placed that line in the SOTU speech. The plot thickents.
And, after the boss said it was his fault... what else can he possibly do other than either fall on his sword or resign? He may experience both.
To: Clock King
OPEN(!) intelligence That is an oxymoron, if I have ever heard one!

The reason why LOYALTY is the most important factor in selecting people for your administration. It took a bit too long, but Tenet did the right thing.

I don't understand why they did just say, we didn't know the papers were a forgery at the time and we were relying on the British who still claim to have other sources and still stand behind the information.
I don't understand how admitting error, when nothing I've read says there really was an error is going to help this go away.

I cant stand David Gregory. He is if possible just as bad as Brian Williams.
Anyway what happened to prescription drug benefits and healthcare this week. I was on vacation and came back to this. Seems the Dems are in bigger trouble than many of us could have imagined.
