A fun story. And I bet the Brewer's front office is in heaven--they've never had so much publicity. For the next couple of months people will be cheering the sausage race, and tee shirts and fundraisers like "Hit the Sausage Girl with a whiffleball bat" will come early and often.

I saw it on the news. Of course, the sports announcer was near tears.
I was listening to the Mets game last night, and they went on for twenty minutes about how they never saw such a stupid irresponsible and dangerous thing in their lives. I guess they don't get out much. I've seen worse in a bar on any given Friday night.

Why does it matter whether the guy intended a "tap" or wanted to smack her? What I don't get is why he thought pushing her would be funny at all?
To: Xenalyte
Thanks for the link. I'm gonna watch it again!

Hell, I've seen worse in my own living room! Which is only to be expected, with a vat of pudding that large.

Because whacking a giant sausage is just plain funny.

Because it was.

You relish this, don't you? Mustard all your courage and went for the whole hog. :)

I'm with you, last I looked every rule out there (society, law, sports) was written about action not intention. The action was that he hit somebody that wasn't expecting it and couldn't see it coming with a baseball bat and did it hard enough to knock them down. Dumb. And he deserves what's he's getting for it, the perp walk, a minor fine and days of ridicule in the sports press might teach him (and hopefully some of the kids that idolize him) that bats aren't supposed to be swung at people.

Is there such a thing as "Kosher" sausage, and if so, does that mean they cut off part of the casing near the end?

But has an Aggie Corp member attacked you with a sword?
Ya know, it would be really, really cool if you would run onto Kyle Field immediately before or after a football game in your Xena outfit. I'd bet ya'll would even make the news...
To: okchemyst
Stop that!
Or at least warn me so I'm not taking a swig when you do!

But sportswriters and sportscasters are the most sanctimonious blowhards this side of the NY Times editorial board. Yes they are.
To: Xenalyte
This wasn't a sausage - he knew there was a person in there. I guess I just don't get jock humor, which usually comes at the expense of someone else.

Not to my knowledge. However, I have no idea where the goblins attended school, so it's a distinct possibility.

Ah, but that assumes I can still fit into said ensemble. It's a bit snug these days.

Oh, C'MON, lighten up a little. Nobody got hurt, it's not like someone called the hospital and got told "he's taken a turn for the wurst."
To: discostu
Agreed. She seems to be handling all this with a lot of class.

It did seem like a childish thing to do. What really amazed me about the incident is that no body in the dugout blinked an eye - like Simon does this kind of thing everyday and it was ho-hum. I mean, no body seemed to be pointing, laughing about it, asking him about it, looking at him, whatever.
