the reason is they are trying to get anything that they can to stick, and nothing is working, they will use an unnamed source, even if it is an imaginary one to do their dirty work

It's part of their fantacy world. There's some really dumb people in this country who actually pay attention to their stories. Newspapers should put the words "fact" or "fiction" on the top of their articles so people know.
