List of Co-Sponsors growing.. I talked yesterday with an aide to my congressman.. Rep. Crenshaw (R-FL-4) .. I was told that Mr. Crenshaw DOES believe that mariage IS between a MAN and WOMAN however he WILL NOT be a co-sponsor of this bill. Sounds like another middle of the roader to me... not willing to take a principle stand on a "controversial" subject... We need to start putting REAL conservatives in office.. Please Contact Congressman Crenshaw and ask him to please take a PUBLIC stand and CO-Sponsor THIS bill......

Here's my letter to my rep. Please write to yours, forward info on the bill to your address books, and ping your lists. An avalanche of mail is all alot of these pols understand.

http://www.house.gov/writerep/

Dear Rep. Saxton,

The recent Supreme Court decision creating a mythical "right to sodomy" and calls for same-sex "marriage" in many states has made it clear that the noble institution of marriage, as it has been traditionally defined for over 2,000 years, is under serious assault. As a resident of the 3rd Congressional District of NJ and a life-long Republican, I therefore call upon you to co-sponsor HJ Resolution 56 -- the Federal Marriage Amendment.

As a constituent of yours, I'd like to give you fair warning that I expect you to defend the institution of marriage--historically and traditionally defined as specifically between one man and one woman. All attempts to alter this definition to include other combinations represent radical and dangerous departures from our cultural heritage. The rogue Supreme Court has shown a disturbing willingness to attack our traditions and create imaginary rights where there is neither a precedent nor a mandate from the people. Therefore, the time has come for the people and our elected representatives to impose our own check on the over-reaching courts.

You must know that large majorities of Americans DO NOT agree with same-sex "marriage" and will support a candidate who defends the traditional family. Indeed, polling has shown that sizable majorities of African-American and Latino voters support the notion that marriage may ONLY be defined as the union between one man and one woman. The propaganda of homosexual pressure groups notwithstanding, publicly supporting this Federal Marriage Amendment will help you at the polls.

This legislation is VERY important to our family. Indeed, we consider it "make or break." Should you fail to support this HJ Res. 56, it will be impossible for us -- all lifelong Republicans -- to support you in the next election. We'll probably just stay home.

Thank you for your attention to this email. I hope you will stand up for American families and not cower in fear of the homosexual lobby.

Sincerely,

Etc.

Feel free to lift any parts of this letter.
