The fiasco in the Palmetto State. Forgot about that one -- to my view, that was real hurt -- the others aggravating, but virtual charlatans.

But I'll bet many exist... and are bogus attention-seekers... like Greg Packer, like I suspect Mr. Wilkinson is. The more I think about this, the more I suspect that practically every reporter with a halfway famous byline has one or more of these people in his Rolodex.Very interesting point. Certainly there could exist many people with the twisted desire to shape world opinion from a deep cover background, subject to no definitive scrutiny, with a mere drop of the "special forces, CIA, NSA, FBI" experience attached to their bona fides.
No reporter would have an easy time cross-checking that type of background given the secrecy attached with each service. Terrance Wilkinson is living, breathing proof of your supposition, and he did it to Doug Thompson for years.
To take your theory one step further, a party as ruthless and without scruples as the RATs, would have an easy time slipping these "operatives" into the "unnamed informant" for the journalisitic underworld (so to speak). Given the Clinton proclivities, it would not further surprise me that many of these types were let loose with bogus credentials (ID Cards, etc.) and are being paid out of DNC coffers or cold hard cash.
My 60-70% imagination theory could also include at least half of the twisted or the deliberatley planted types discussed above.

Well said:
In brief, if you are choosing to come clean, then there is no benefit to only coming half-clean, anymmore than there is benefit to washing only one half of a dinner plate. The veil must be lifted entirely for the truth to be revealed. You have talked the talk, now it is time to walk the walk.
An apology made in earnest is a brave and commendable act. But an apology made in dishonesty or deceit is beneath contempt.
It is now up to you to establish for your readers which type of apology this is.
We'll be watching.

Here's the problem with unnamed sources. In the
short run they give the really great stuff -- the stuff that makes a reporter stand out, move up, and get noticed.
In the long run, unnamed sources dry up credibility and erode faith in the press in general. "Short run benefit" then "long term disaster" types of behavior are the hardest patterns to break.
This whole deal smells and now we have to wonder how many anonymous sources quoting White House or other Administration sources are bogus. How many meetings they are discussing with quotes from the participants have been bogus?

THANKS FOR THE CONCISE EXPLANATION OF THE EVENTS.
I've been thinking there are four possibility regarding Terrance J. Wilkinson :
1, He doesn't exist; has never existed and is just a cop-out by Doug Thompson. Goal: DT is in CYA mode.
2. He exist and is a solo "con" artist. If so, he has some major psychosis and this is not the only news agency he has conned. A police sketch of him should be circulated, and everyone who has had contact with him should come forward. Goal: The con is getting some "jollies" from his success/power!
3. He exists and is a member of an organized group. Most of the above applies. He would also hit on other agencies, but he would not be the only one doing so. There would be a ring of "sources" providing false information to many agencies. This should be a warning to all journalist. to get several sources and cross check the data. Goal: to destroy what "they" consider the opposition.
4. He is a "Paid" plant. (There may be others.) Similar to 3. but he is not actually one of them. (His life may be in danger or he may be the target of blackmail. He could also be doing this for pay). In this scenario he is a pawn, manipulating the other pieces on the board. He may have actually tried to come forward or "retire" We may or may not find his body. BTY if this is the case,I hope Doug Thompson hires some body guards.

Source With No Name On the first part of the story
I was looking at all the lies
There were slants and slurs and knocks and zings
There were plants and shills and stings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And this guy in cheap shades
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound
I've been through the newsroom on a source with no name
It felt good to handed my fame
In the newsroom you can remember your name
'Cause ol' C-N-N won't give you no pain
La, la ...
After two days in the newsroom sun
My scam began to turn red
After three days in the newsroom fun
I was looking at a swollen head
And the story it told of the sewage that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead
You see I've been through the newsroom on a source with no name
It felt good to be handed my fame
In the newsroom you can remember your name
'Cause ol' C-N-N won't feel any shame
La, la ...
After nine days I let the source run down
'Cause the newsroom had turned to brown
There were slants and slurs and knocks and zings
there were plants and shills and stings
The Left is a cesspool with it's life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a dangling chad
But the cretans continue to shove
You see I've been through the newsroom on a source with no name
It felt good to be handed my fame
In the newsroom you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no lefty who can feel any shame
La, la ...

He informed me that Japan Today had obtained the story from TruthOut, to which his organization subscribes, and which had presented the story as their own. I'm wondering if Doug Thompson gave TruthOut permission to use his CHB pieces without crediting him as the author?? .....This makes no sense to me.

He stated that Japan Today would be publishing Thompson's mea culpa.Still waiting to see that. Bet he chickens out in fear of all the looney left posters at JT calling him a sell-out.
