July 10, 2003 -- Kobe Bryant's alleged sex-assault victim is an aspiring chanteuse who drove a thousand miles for a shot at stardom on Fox's blockbuster "American Idol," a friend told The Post yesterday.

Despite being cut from the hit reality show, the alleged victim's a talented pianist and songwriter who hopes to become a music teacher when she graduates college, friends said.

Here's the problem. Your approach of "not slandering" would require me, if accused, to not point out how the charges might be motivated by something other than the truth.

Me or my friends would be prohibited from pointing out that "girls make up rape claims all the time, and this is supported by the DoJ/FBI statistics." They'd also be prohibited, by you, from pointing out that the girl is unstable, or that she wasn't acting like a victim after the alleged event, that she was drinking and making out with me at a party, etc Whatever the particular circumstance in a case, I'd be forbidden(socially) from pointing this out, even if I'm innocent, just because.

Why is that? If I'm guilty of nothing, or of poor but NON-CRIMINAL judgment, why can I not turn the focus back on the accuser? These crimes are different than murder, robbery, etc. one reason is evidence and motive necessary for a good case in the others, and the social cost to the accused is completely different. If you're acquitted of burglary, most will assume you are indeed not guilty. If you're acquitted of child molestation or rape, you're still guilty in the eyes of many out there.

I have a feeling there is a long, long, long list of jobs you don't think women should have.
If we are to assume that women and men are functionally interchangeable, then by definition women should be afforded no special treatment, as was the case in the Dark Ages. Please explain why, in a country where a citizen is presumed innocent until proven guilty, Kobe Bryant is not afforded the same anonymity as his anonymous accuser?

Not only that. But when the tribe finds the man and the woman together the woman gets beaten, punished or killed for being a whore. Nothing happens to the guy

Providing the man did not force the woman to be there (or the woman force the man, as some here would say equally likely), punishment of the woman and not the man may in fact be justified.

There should be a double standard. It has to do with a woman's always knowing the child she carries has her genes, while a man can never (historically) be sure that his woman is in fact bearing his child.

And because a woman, no matter how many men she might mate with, cannot increase the number of offspring she might have beyond one every year or so, she has less biological reason to be promiscuous.

But the genetic blueprint of men, who can never be sure a woman they have been mating with is carrying their child, has found it advantageous to influence men to have sex with as many women as possible, in the hope that the odds will be that at least some of the women will become pregnant with HIS baby.

Of course, not all men cheat on their wives and not all wives are faithful.

Human behavior, like human physical traits, exist in a range between extremes.

The big question now is how much of the double standard is genetically determined and how much of it is cultural--both culture and human biology pass through survival of the fittest.

If it is genetics that has programmed human behavior such that men and women are compelled to behave differently, to pursue different reproductive strategies, tnen those inborn behavioral proclivities might be supressed for a while, but ultimately they will free themselves and the truth will out.
