July 10, 2003 -- Kobe Bryant's alleged sex-assault victim is an aspiring chanteuse who drove a thousand miles for a shot at stardom on Fox's blockbuster "American Idol," a friend told The Post yesterday.
Despite being cut from the hit reality show, the alleged victim's a talented pianist and songwriter who hopes to become a music teacher when she graduates college, friends said.

He didn't "check himself into" a hospital, merely visited a hospital to give samples. Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Visited to give samples???? He was escorted by THREE deputies!

The fact that she was a contestant on American Idol destroys any credibility that she might have had. "Decided to go up to his room anyway", my foot.

It could have happened that way. But Kobe Bryant has a really, really squeaky-clean image. He's not been involved in any sort of shenanigans at all. How foolish it would have been for him to assualt someone from a hotel bringing room service to his room! That just doesn't ring true at all. He's recently-married and seems to have his wife with him all the time. I just don't see it.No way was she raped or forced to give him oral sex. Something else happened that freaked her out. Something Kobe thought was OK but upset her.

Yes, but he still did not CHECK IN to the hospital. I didn't say he did check in. You said visited, I clarified to say "escorted" by the local sheriff.

I do wonder why the young lady would bother to go to his room even if she's already said that room service ended at 10 PM.
Yeah, it could have been that she wanted to meet an NBA playa but she should have known they're all animals anyway, so she got what she asked for. IMO

Please get your facts straight. He was doing her when she was 16 and he was almost 20. She is now 21, while Kobe is 24. When they got married, she was 18, and Kobe was 22.

So here's the purported victim's friend, and even she admits that her first reaction was that it was a fabrication?? I'd love to find out what it was about her friend that made her assume that. You're reading the friend's remarks wrong. She said she believed the charge against Bryant was a fabrication before she knew the identity of the accuser. Once she learned that the accuser was a person she knew well and respected, she changed her mind and gave credence to the charge.
"Considering the source" is a time honored and non-controversial method of determining credibility.
Until I read the above report I totally believed that a golddigger was at work. But several factors in the story now make that at least more unlikely, if not highly unlikely. For instance, the short time frame, the total lack of prior contact between the alleged victim and the alleged assailant, the immediate complaint after the alleged attack, the witnesses to the complainant's distress, none of whom are likely to have engaged in a conspiracy with her, her status as a talented and responsible college student.
I just have a gut feeling that a cynical and ballsy false charge would not have been concocted by this kind of person in so short a space of time and under these circumstances. I see it as more likely that some kind of brief flirtation went on, during which Bryant, for whatever reason (heat of the moment probably), crossed the line and deposited some DNA onto an unwilling recipient, which could quite reasonably be understood to fit the description of a sexual assault.

so she got what she asked for. IMOPaula Jones got what she asked for. Juanita Brodderick, also. Would you say the same about your daughter?

When a caller requested room service for Bryant, sources said, the teen told the caller room service had ended at 10 p.m. But then, a source said, she "decided to go up to his room" anyway. The University of Northern Colorado student returned 20 to 30 minutes later, shaking and "in tears," the source said.
It makes me wonder why it took this woman 20 to 30 minutes to return from dropping off a meal to Bryant's room. Unless Bryant prevented her from leaving his room after she dropped off the meal, it appears as though she voluntarily hung around with Bryant for awhile. Maybe she started flirting with him, and maybe Bryant misinterpreted that as an invitation to come on to her, and perhaps things started to go too far and then the woman started to panic.

I just don't see Bryant risking his career by sexually assaulting some room service employee.
I'd need to see a picture of the alleged 'victim'.

I am totally amazed at how much emotion and interest there is here in Kobe Bryant & this alleged incident. The reason for that, is because society is just starting to wake up to the fact that SOME women actually do LIE about RAPE. Not all; SOME.
I was at Tailhook 91'. I know first hand how some women can lie their asses off solely out of spite or greed. Men know that if this can happen to a famous basketball player, it can happen to anyone with a dollar in their pocket.

Maybe she thought Kobe wanted to run a "Backdoor" play on her? Did Kobe have some of his boys in the room? Perhaps he or one of them propositioned her for such. And it upset her. Maybe he put a friendly hand on her and she suddenly discovered she is frightened of tall Black men.
