July 10, 2003 -- Kobe Bryant's alleged sex-assault victim is an aspiring chanteuse who drove a thousand miles for a shot at stardom on Fox's blockbuster "American Idol," a friend told The Post yesterday.

Despite being cut from the hit reality show, the alleged victim's a talented pianist and songwriter who hopes to become a music teacher when she graduates college, friends said.

Great link, thanks Shermy! Makes what I heard on Fox a little clearer.

Why on earth would Simon whack a teenage girl with his bat?

Yeah, that was weird! Saw a thread about that earlier.

Hmm. This isn't exactly a ringing endorsement from a friend who originally thought that she fabricated the whole thing.

She NEVER thought her friend had fabricated the incident. Like many, she was skeptical when she heard KB was accused but UPON learning it was her friend she believed the story to be credible.

havn't you ever seen Judge Dredd?
in the words of Rico: "Guilt.....is a matter of timing"

Just because the guy has 'never been' a problem, doesn't mean he won't 'ever' make mistakes or do something stupid....

The problem with Kobe, is that he is not all that squeaky clean. He was pokin an underage highschool girl, and only married her because her parents were ready to go to the police. Never mind that she was already doing RAP videos before she was 18.

And there's still nothing about any rape kit in the story that heads this thread. I'm not sure where that came from, and the person who made the quote didn't offer any link.

If you would exercise your search engine before degrading the young lady you would know the details. But never mind. Better to slander first while you can BEFORE the truth comes out.

FYI, Jarhead read the story wrong. The accused's friend said she thought the story was a fake when it was reported. When this story was first reported, it was reported as Kobe being arrested for sexual assault...NOT that some random hotel employee was sexual assulted. Therefore, the friend was saying, "When I heard Kobe was accused, I thought it was fake, until I learned that the accuser was my friend, whom I know and trust"

That's pretty much what I assumed until I read Kobe had checked himself into a HOSPITAL afterwards!
Come on people! We know how the script goes here! Next, Kobe checks himself into "Alcohol & Drug Abuse Treatment Center" and then releases a statement where he "admits" he has a "substance abuse problem" and apologizes "to anyone I may have harmed" .....

What on earth does Scott Peterson have to do with this?

Image. Just like plenty of other men and women whom we absolutely cannot believe would commit a violent act, Scott Peterson aside. He has yet to go to trial. I'm not saying Kobe is guilty, either.

That is disgusting that you would even mention the two names together. At most Kobe assaulted a woman. At most Peterson killed his wife and unborn son. Get real!

I didn't mention them together. I merely observed.

The University of Northern Colorado student returned 20 to 30 minutes later, shaking and "in tears," the source said.

This story sounds a little familar...

A young lady working at a hotel (named Paula) goes to a hotel room occupied by someone we all know (kiss it) and she returns several minutes later shaken up....

I am totally amazed at how much emotion and interest there is here in Kobe Bryant & this alleged incident. What has he accomplished to deserve that, shoot the basket well? Be a contender for the Michael Jordan status of "greatest ever"? Jordan is a womanizer and gambler and does little for society with his fortune yet millions adore him. The same with Kobe. Who knows his true character? He sure doesn't get along well with Shaq. Enormous egos.

Either she's lying or Kobe did do something.

Or she thought it was cool to talk to a celebrity and things she did or said got misinterpreted which led to something he did or said being misinterpreted and then one of them panicked and it unraveled.

Never underestimate the ability of people to get the facts wrong, even if they were there. Ever seen Rashômon? Relativistic twaddle, but sometimes even twaddle is true.

"to anyone I that may have been harmed"

The PC way to apologize without admitting fault.

A defendant under arrest has no choice about giving samples, no matter how good his lawyer is.
